Our public transit was destroyed, while investment also left the region. So now there are a bunch of cars and trucks everywhere putting wear-and-tear on roads and parking on sidewalks. Since they decided to put cars first, repairing roads gets priority over sidewalks. Also, a lot of the roads are just too narrow and there isn't enough parking for a high volume f personal vehicles, further adding to the problem. Real investment in transit needs to happen to have any hope of fully solving this problem. Other than that, it'll just be little fixes on the edges.

The selling point I've given to the whiners who don't want to see anyone getting anything helpful unless it also helps them; is that it also gets a car off the road and reduces traffic (and gasoline demand, and thus cost).

Anyone know about plans for spur routes to connect the river trails to nearby areas? I live up a hill from the trail, probably less than a mile for a direct route, but there's no safe way to actually get a bike to it without putting the bike in/on a car first. Otherwise, I'd be able to bike to the waterfront, southside, and downtown without too much trouble in good weather.

Greenland melting could be a cause. It can cause a weaker Gulf Stream, without the heat from the Gulf moving north via water, it will over land. That will cause it to pass over us and make these wind events with stronger differences between hot and cold.
