What are you talking about? My house is less than 3 miles from the beach and we have everything you mentioned above except maybe wind farms

Reply to Rent or buy in Fairfield County, CT? by emalways
I’m going to be truthful, you’re not going to get much for 550k in a good school district town around greenwich. New caanan, Greenwich or Darien definitely not. You may be able to find something in Stamford or Norwalk but the schools aren’t great. If you are willing to move up the line to Trumbull you could definitely find something there with that budget. My husband commutes from Fairfield to greenwhich daily, it’s not that horrible if it’s only occasionally to see family. You may be able to get something small in Fairfield but it won’t get you far. We’re planning on selling/buying this spring/summer and our budget of 850k is not getting us far in Fairfield.

My brother and his fiancé are very high up in similar businesses in Boston. They were all required to go back to the office almost a year ago. It is not a dumb move.

Thanks I saw the typo after but did not bother to fix it. Sorry it bothered you so much

This is a smart move by Lego. Yes it sucks for CT but it only makes sense. Boston is a college city. They have a huge pool of highly educated graduates willing to deal with the expenses of city life. They are able to make connections with schools and create internships within there company. All the large business do it in Boston and given the nostalgia component of the company this will be huge for them. Lego is looking for fresh talent and this only makes sense. It’s going to suck for current employees because they will have to move over an hour or 2 outside the city to find anything less than million dollars. But overall this is a smart move by Lego for there company as a whole.

Have you seen Massachusetts license plate? It’s so plain, white plate with red lettering, that’s it. I like that CT has some color but not over the top like some other states! Mass is just plain boring

Yes! I was just having this exact conversation with my cop brother in law on Christmas Eve. As someone else said you have to basically be driving on the wrong side of the road for the police to even do anything.

Um Costco, Whole Foods and stew Leonard’s are in the same group. All crazy expensive. Followed closely by stop and shop then shop rite. Trader Joe’s is surprisingly one of the cheapest in my area (Fairfield)

Good luck! FWIW I think Norwalk has a better shoreline and beaches compared to Stamford. Checkout calf pasture. Loved going there when we lived in Norwalk. Very walkable, clean beach, Water sport rentals, restaurants by the water, mini golf and they often have concerts there during the summer. The beach is free to all residents.

Wow! If it makes you feel any better I looked up in Fairfield some of the biggest houses property taxes. There is a 4 million dollar house up for sale now that’s property taxes are 69k/year!

Westport and Fairfield are not the towns to be child free. People move here for the schools. Huge “mom community” here. I live in Fairfield, everyone has kids around us (we have kids as well). Not the area for people looking for childfree friends.

How big is the house?! I thought mine were crazy in Fairfield, we pay 11k for 2300 square feet. The biggest houses in greenfield hill are 16k+
lizardRD t1_ixwyw8y wrote
Someone else mentioned it but Norwalk is what first came to mind. Lots to do there, strong community, cheaper than Stamford.
I would avoid places like Westport, Darien, new caanan and Fairfield (that’s where I live) because majority of people have children in my experience from there. Big “mom community” in those towns.

Have you been to the beach area in Fairfield? They are constantly tearing down old houses and building new ones there. Its very crowded with houses basically on top of eachother. It’s arguably the most desired area to buy in the town
