Sophie B Hawkins had a HUGE hit with Damn I Wish I was Your Lover, and then just nothing. A big part of it was her coming out as bisexual during an interview, which most people didn’t really care about, but the label got cold feet and pretty much just left her hanging. She’s still around, but I think she’s independent of any record label at this point.

Wireless is for convenience. Wired headphones will always beat wireless in terms of sound quality assuming they’re around the same price.

It could be notated either way, but typically 3/4 is reserved for waltzes, where the snare hits on beat 3 of every measure. If the snare hits on beat one of what would be the second measure of 3/4 it’s generally written as one bar of 6/8 with the snare hitting on beat 4.

Reply to If a record has good songs and lyrics is it pretty much going to succeed? by GregJamesDahlen
Tons of great artists never achieved commercial success. There was a band called Supafuzz out of Lexington Kentucky. Great rock band, great lyrics, cool rock riffs, and they didn’t really sound like anyone else. Got a little radio play but never took off. I saw them at a club with maybe ten people in the audience and they rocked it like they were in a stadium. They just didn’t have the money behind them to get that big push.

I thought it was a legitimately good light sci-fi movie that would have been far more successful if it weren’t piggybacking on an established kids series. I think maybe they figure more adults would go see it since the first Toy Story came out almost 30 years ago. Betting on the nostalgia thing.

Because it’s very complex music and the pieces are very long. Little bit different from a pop song with four chords that repeat over and over.

Unfortunately marketing yourself is just part of the deal. I get not wanting to be famous, but if you want people to hear your music you have to let them know it exists. Make some tik tok videos or something. Look for facebook groups that cater to what you do. Post some videos on here.

It’s just a mini convection oven. Cooks food more evenly and uses less electricity than a full size oven. Very convenient if you’re just cooking for one or two people.

The Beatles were the first band allowed to put a microphone directly in front of the bass drum. That and about 1000 more recording techniques that are now standard practice can be directly attributed to them and George Martin.

I think there’s a documentary about the making of it with a lot of interviews about how much studio interference there was. There’s also The Donner Cut, which is definitely worth watching. That version makes a lot more sense.

You can do that with an xlr to 1/4 inch cable, but it won’t sound very good. Unfortunately it costs money to make music. I just looked on the GC site and there’s an American audio speaker for $170 that would probably get it done in a garage setting.

You need a small mixing board and one or two powered speakers. Go to Guitar Center or any music store. You’ll be spending a few hundred dollars. If it’s just for vocals in the garage you should be able to get a 4 channel mixer for around $150, and a cheap but useable powered speaker will run about $350. You’ll need a few cables too. If you only need one or two vocals most powered speakers these days have two inputs with their own volume controls, you just won’t be able to eq anything. But hey, you gotta start somewhere.

One could argue that by leaving the voicemail consent is implied. The recipient now owns the recording and can use it for any purpose they like.
