I initially had the same impression as you, but I just did some eyeballing based on the size of the people and horse carts - it looks pretty dead on to me, especially once you account for medians, sidewalks, bike paths, etc.

I mean, is it inconsistent, or is it just a judgment call? I imagine dude was trying to thread the needle between a consistent methodology and interesting, digestible data. He could treat every subsidiary individually, but then you could have a highly fragmented list of players. He could have kept it top-level, but then you end up missing out on individual data for key entities. He probably split the difference to make it interesting to his audience while still providing relevant data.

This isn't a scientific study. It's a post on a sub about attractive presentations of data. I think OP succeeded.

Is it inaccurate, or is it just that given the dynamics it's hard to make a chart that everyone would be happy with, since everyone has their own preferences about how it should be displayed?

I'm sure if OP did it as you suggested, there would be just as many comments critiquing the fact that he merged them and saying they wish they could see them separately. This sub can be a bit hypercritical sometimes.

It was obvious to anyone with emotional intelligence that he was breaking down because he was mad at himself for making a stupid mistake - not because he was mad at being punished. And that was confirmed when he stated that exact thing in his apology.

If you can't tell the difference between those two things, that's your problem, not mine. And it would also be kind of ironic, since you're criticizing Walker for his emotional immaturity while you're right there with him.

Ohio State at their best can compete with UGA. But that's the difference between UGA and Ohio State. UGA was consistent and showed up enough every week to win. Ohio State wasn't. That's why Ohio State lost to UGA, and that's why UGA is the National Champion and the definitive and unequivocal best team in the country.

And yet (since we're playing with hypotheticals here), if UGA didn't exist and we were under the old format, the National Championship would have been TCU v. Michigan. And TCU won. Meaning TCU would have been National Champions.

Yeah, UGA annihilated TCU. But dismissing TCU is a real disservice and ignores the reality of the season. All season we said UGA was on another plane from the rest of college football, and then they went and played their best game of the season last night. Using that against TCU just sounds like sour fucking grapes from fans of teams that weren't playing last night.
