No. This is the same thing we thought in the late '90s with the popularisation of the internet. If all the facts are available to everyone it will changes discussions, we will understand each other better, the world will be a better place. It wasn't to be.

Same here, polarization exists it serves a purpose for some. We have created a society where there have to be winners and losers. There is little room for both sides to have valid points. There is little room to agree to disagree.

It is not good for society, but I'm afraid AI is not going to help us here. As much as it could be a positive tool it can also be a negative tool. Generating very convincing arguments for whichever position you want to take.

Depends. Maybe gamers want the best of the best.
But for regular users you can make a whole model of this.
Buying the latest tech at maximum costs and keeping that for 6 years is often more expensive and gives you on average a slower system than buying mainstream stuff and keeping it for 3 years.
(environmental costs not included)

Explain again how this differs from Facebook:

One can think of many reasons to worry about TikTok, the Chinese-owned video-sharing platform. Its executives seem to lie habitually.
Its opaque algorithms and data-collection capabilities appear to be
tailor-made to spread propaganda or collect sensitive information. Quite frankly, many of the most popular videos on the app seem positively deranged.

Getting a jet engine running on hydrogen is not the main issue. Creating enough green hydrogen, transporting it to the airport, carrying it in the airplane are all much bigger issues.

Claiming landmark achievement for something that already has been done in Sovjet Russia 30+ years ago and is the lesser of your challenges is pushing it.

The camera is not the problem, the network part is. And it is not just China. The actual and legal stance of the US is also not very good.

So you can buy Chinese (or any other supplier) dumb camera's. But if you want to make them remote accessible make sure the network equipment is secure.

If this really is about consumer rights and consumer safety, this news would not make me invest in Meta. If TikTok is banned, Facebook should also be banned or reformed.

It would also set a precedent. There is a face-off between Facebook and the EU. If a TikTok ban in the US is successful, the EU would definitely notice and be less hesitant to ban a major platform.
