There's a Hoss' in Belle Vernon that my parents and I often go to when I drive down to visit them (they moved the Belle Vernon several years ago).

I actually like it there. Their "cleaver cut" is sorta like a filet and really good for the price.

The place is literally like stepping back in time 30 if not 40 years; it's amazing in that regard.

They seem to do good business there; always pretty busy when we go.

In fact, in most cases the Pennsylvania Code places the burden of salvaging abandoned boats on Fish and Boat.

It's a state agency that has stepped up and trying to deal with it, while everybody else is saying "not our problem".

If you really want to outright dispose of it, take it any salvage/junk yard that deals with scrap metal.

Services like 1-800-got-junk would likely take it away for you if you need somebody to do the hauling, but you'll, of course, pay.

just for reference... I had 3 trees removed a couple years ago. They were extremely large and overgrown maple trees. It was $4K to have all them removed and to have the stumps and roots ground out. (There was an amazing amount of roots above the ground spreading out from the trunks) It was basically 1K per tree, plus an addtional 1K for the grinding.

I know that I could have it done a bit cheaper, but I had a professional service come in that had proper and efficient equipment. You can get it done cheaper if you're OK with one of those outfits that are basically just two guys and a chainsaw.

I used Keystone Tree Techs; I think they're based out of the Monaca area; I'm in the north hills. Not sure they go to south hills.

You live only a few miles from the Mon Valley which has three U.S. Steel facilities. The likely culprit is Clairton Works which is merely 5 miles east of you. They burn coal to make coke that is used to make steel. The burning of coal releases tons (literally) of sulfur dioxide which is what you're smelling.

There used to be one in Oakland, back when I was attending Pitt in the 80s. Not sure when it closed.

It was on the corner of Forbes and Oakland Ave. Where the First National Bank is now (across the street from Stack'd).

Use to love buying chili-cheese hot dogs from there. Could get two of them for some really cheap price, something like 2 for $2. Might have even been two for a buck. I forget.

There was also a 7-11 on Forbes at the same time. Across the street from DLH (david lawrence hall; I think they just call it "lawrence hall" now). Where the 'forbes street market' now is.

I'm paying for the 500Mbps service; I get around 560. I do a lot of downloading with it because of work and my speed is pretty rock solid. Only once in a while do I lose my internet and even then it's brief; it's been probably a year since last time that happened.

What an awesome photo. I was born in '64 and have a few very early memories of the open-air Eastland before they "malled it". I remember those concrete planters.

My mom used to take me to tons of movies at the theater when I was a kid and early teen. I think one of the last movies I saw there was "Alien".

And I lost lots of my allowance money in the arcade that was down in the mall's basement. Space Invaders, Sea Wolf, Lunar Lander.

In high school I saved up some money and bought a boom box at Penney's. And I remember buying the J. Geils Band's "Freeze Frame" album on cassette at Woolworth's.

Volkwein's Music out in RIDC West does all kind of repairs on instruments, including string instruments / guitars. I have no personal experience with them; only once knew somebody that could play a few instruments and was always visiting them for something or other.

I started a job towards the beginning of the year where my employer doesn't provide a health plan (basically a startup; they're too new and small) but they do reimburse me (fully) for pretty much whatever ACA plan I want.

So, when I went to Pennie, I was more than willing to get a UPMC plan, as I can't remember the last time I even went to a non-UPMC doctor or hospital. But I ended up with a Highmark plan because UPMC didn't offer any without a high deductible. Since my employer was willing to pay the extra that would get me a non-deductible plan, then why shouldn't I get one? So, my only choice for no high deductible was to get one with Highmark.
