You should go back and reread what I’ve said, because I think you’re misunderstanding. At no point did I ever bring up any other state. The only time I mentioned Massachusetts (which is where I am from!) was in the first comment where I said I BELIEVE the statement that it is one of the most energy efficient states.

I did not post misleading articles, I provided multiple credited sources from both sides of the political spectrum (not that it should even matter) and I referenced California’s own government statistics for their energy output and consumption.

I never once brought up anything about “lower cost fossil-fuels” I stated that California is not efficient because they cannot support their own infrastructure with their current power grid without importing from other states. The onus of how they decide to remedy that, whether it’s increasing the amount of renewable energy they generate or otherwise is up to them.

You’re literally making things up that I didn’t say to argue with.

What a blatant straw man. Because I point out the article claiming they are energy efficient is misleading Im arguing for the apocalypse? What a joke.

If California actually wants to be “efficient” they need to further develop their electrical grid so that they can actually be self sustaining. Then maybe they can turn their noses up at everyone else and claim to be the most “energy efficient state.”

Weird that a state that that required people to lower electricity consumption while also importing a huge amount of its yearly energy consumption from nearby states is deemed the most energy efficient when they can’t even produce enough electricity to sustain their own infrastructure.

In 2021 California’s energy grid generated a sum total of 194,127 GWh and imported 83,636 GWh. That means a whopping 30.11% of the electricity used by California is imported from neighboring states. I’m sorry but a state that can only produce 70% of its required annual power is only efficient if you twist statistics.

Edit for link to energy consumption and production from California government site https://www.energy.ca.gov/data-reports/energy-almanac/california-electricity-data/2021-total-system-electric-generation
