Yeah. I'm middle aged now and find myself craving meat (whereas I spent year as a varsity student in a vegetarian flat with no pain incurred whatsoever). I eat meat, fruit, nuts, vegetables and sometimes carbohydrates and occasionally chocolate. I always cook my own food. I feel healthier than I have in decades.

When I got to the UK from New Zealand in late 2021, I worked at a big Tesco supermarket while I was seeking out and interviewing for professional roles. We were provided with a uniform but you had to wear your own shoes. The number of times I hurt my toes or ran into my right ankle while moving big cages of groceries was .. pretty f* high. They should totally be providing steel cap 8 hole boots.

There could be a correlation between bipolar and alzheimers although my gut feel is that am sceptical of this. I have bipolar, had it for 26 years (developed it at 25 yrs old). I have always had a somewhat poor short term memory but I considered this was because I am usually thinking about several 'higher' topics rather than concentrating on the minutae of day to day functions. There has been demonstrated an association between abdentmindedness and high intelligence. And bipolar people are often highly intelligent. ..

That is taking very polar views and is quite cynical to me as a scientist who certainly got vaccinated, goes to the doctor annually, yet smokes, drinks and - most of all - doesn't judge others for their problems.

I've been smoking and drinking for 36 years. My memory is very good. This would suggest that high intelligence (genetically), good diet and exercise can overcome the depredations that alcohol and smoking cause. However, I refute that smoking should blithely be considered as a negative factor. Nicotine substitutes for acetylcholine which, basically and among other thing, aids brain function.
