I regularly design and permit homes with bedrooms that have no closets. The top comment has most of the code requirements, I’ll add that the space must also be 7’ minimum in each direction and the heat must be permanently installed.

This is what I was wondering… did they see a southcoast rail map or the stations under construction and think they’re open?
The Middleboro station to south station by car at rush hour is at least 1.5 hours whereas it’s 1 hour on the train.

Main Street Buzzards bay. Something walkable to the canal trail.

The plants are also confused about the weather. My tulips are sprouting and a few weeks ago some of the forsythia bloomed. These both typically happen after the winter ends.

The south coast really is a hidden gem. The ocean is so accessible and the housing is affordable compared to any other ocean front area. The commuter rail is an hour into Boston now from Middleboro and the south coast rail lines should be operational by the end of 2023. Ocean to Government Center in Boston by car with no traffic is an hour. During commute times this is more like 1:45. Worth it to be by the ocean for daily life.

Yes!!!! I can absolutely confirm this as having lived in Boston and Seattle. In Boston people don’t want to bother you, but most are actually willing to be bothered and will become your friend, they just won’t start the conversation.

Some universities have deals with other schools nationwide where children of employees can pick a school off a list and get tuition reimbursement if they get accepted to the school.

Another architect here. I recently searched the entire code (in MA, a few specific towns, and a few other states) for this exact “closet” requirement and it doesn’t exist anywhere that I’ve checked. I’d be curious to see a code where it did. When you’re designing small spaces, it makes so much more sense to just use millwork or furniture instead of framed closets with studs.
