Reply to Will humans rebel against the AI? by Plenty-Side-2902
I think AI could eventually get us to the point where we have MORE handmade items, if we desire, and build a more efficient system where we could access the creativity of people. By "people" I include both humans and future sentient AI (I'm imagining this point would be post 2030s/2040s)
Consumption of creative works is for entertainment, but another aspect is communication. Sometimes we purely want to be entertained, but other times we want to connect with the creators and see into their minds. I believe this will remain the case.
There will be an overload of content, from quickly generated content and (hopefully) also from creative people who will have more opportunities to express themselves. So, there might be changes to the system of how it's consumed, how people share content, how people make a living, how works can be relevant or become famous on a massive scale. I can't predict exactly what will happen, but I can imagine new systems coming into place, as they always have....and there might be a chaotic adjustment period if AI progresses faster than a new system can be brought into place. The adjustment period is likely to see hostility and opposition, especially from shortsighted people.
Based on what we're already seeing with AI art generators, there will be some who embrace new technology and others who resist, especially those who resist out of ignorance.

I 100% agree with you. And the only people who stand to benefit in that scenario are the big companies and the wealthy who will hire lawyers to enforce whatever they believe they "own". Expanding copyright will only hurt regular people and smaller artists...the artists that these "movements" are claiming they're advocating for....the smaller creators who are joining in on the anti-AI crap... they're the ones who will be harmed by the new copyright regime....moreso than simply allowing AI art generators to operate without this legislation and slowdown of technology. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if there are some big companies trying to push the anti-AI art movement because they know it's a big opportunity to gain control of the industry and increase their own profits.

Reply to Instead of escaping to virtual realities, what if we just made our reality as good as any virtual reality could be? by [deleted]
I believe that altering all of existence into a paradise and ending suffering is what we, as intelligent beings, are here to do. Actually, more than a belief...I KNOW that is the goal and that it is possible, given enough technology and enough time.
As you see from responses, the majority of people are ignorant to this and some even act strangely hostile to the idea. I was once ignorant to it too. People need events and information to line up in their lives for them to reach the point of understanding, and they need to see beyond themselves and their own happiness. If I could be fortunate enough to live in my own bubble of paradise, I would still be devastated by the suffering outside my bubble and I can't rest until this is solved (on a smaller scale, I already feel this). That's the point that I've reached, and I have a mind that imagines possibility after possibility. That's why I strive toward this. I'm not saying I'm perfect (extremely far from it) but my perspective has changed to give me this understanding.
So, I'm grateful that you posted this.

Reply to When AI automates all the jobs what are you going to do with your life? by TrainquilOasis1423
I would work on my hobbies (creating things, probably collaborating even more with AI), learning/gaining knowledge, getting to know more people in the world, and experiencing new things. Same as always but without having part of my time/life wasted by a job.

Awww, damn, I thought the Sydney antics were so fun. I hope another company will provide a service like this, but with more personality in the future.
