I might be using improper terminology but I can understand “blob” and Sundaras were more blobby than the 660s in my experience. Couldn’t tell if you’ve used either, but just sharing my opinion.

Clarity might be a better word? When A/B’ing the 660 & Sundara over 2 days, the Sundara sounded a bit muffled in comparison, almost like listening to a speaker in a gymnasium in comparison. Greater instrument/vocal separation in the 660, which pushed me to keep the 660.

I prefer the crispiness and imaging of my 660 over the soundstage and (slightly more) bass of the Sundara 🤷♂️

They’ll be getting a new pair of something in a few years regardless when the Sundara drivers fail

if you're not using an amp, I'd recommend the FiiO K3 as a cheap solution for this too. I got one for $49 shipped on eBay and its bass boost gives me juuuust enough on my 660S. I've had sound distortion trying to use integrated EQs in Spotify or Apple Music listening to mostly bass-heavy hip hop.

Amazing you went on a ~$6k headphone journey to end back at the $240 6XX.
Truly appreciate this OP as someone who just got into this hobby and has only tried 660S (kept) & Sundaras (returned). Confirming my plan to keep these puppies for a while and maybe, just maybe, move up to the Edition XS / Arya one day if I want another planar.
One other note since you implied you're a Mac user - SoundSource is amazing for EQing. Comes prebuilt with a ton of EQ profiles (crinacle & oratory1990 for example) that you can just click into and instantly apply with no extra work. Pretty nifty for A/Bing different EQ settings.

Implying they no longer have that history? The company is still run by the Sennheiser family. They actually had this to say about Sonova at time of sale:
“A partner who not only shares our passion for audio and a commitment to the highest product quality, but also very similar corporate values,” they write. “This is an excellent foundation for a successful future together.”

For me it is the fact that they have a long history of producing high quality reliable products. I baby my Sundaras in comparison because I do not have the same faith in a brand like Hifiman.

Velcome!!! Check out the Oratory1990 EQ for them. It makes my 660s sound a lot more balanced to me.

I had to swap to Sennheisers after reading all the horror stories online about QC with HifiMan. Overall more pleased with the 660S vs Sundara, but they are very different obviously.
