You're kinda right but it goes deeper than that. Pretty much all building inspections are performed by third party companies by ownership. In theory, the inspectors and safety people are there to keep the contractor in check so the owner doesn't get sued to oblivion when someone dies. In practice, there are a lot of owners who act as their own GCs with little actual oversight.
It's even worse when you realize that a lot of building plans are drawn up by developer's in-house CAD people, and then rubber-stamped by a retired 80 year old architect or engineer that's basically sold their stamp.

I agree with you it sounds kind of negative, but cramming into a packed train every morning on your way to work kind of sucks, so I think it's apt.

Laminar just refers to the state/mixing of the liquid, smooth stream down a calm brook would be laminar, white water rapids would be turbulent. The Reynolds number is just a convenient dimensionless benchmark (dependent on the geometry of the situation if memory serves me right) for defining the boundary between the two types, which is usually kind of fuzzy.

Agreed. Aware of the abuse, don't have kids, and have chilled out on the recreational drugs myself as I get older.
Most of the people I know who had long term problems with benzos were prescribed them daily with doctors happily signing off on refills.
After reading a bit I can't help but think doctors doing the prescribing are a bit out of touch with the current state of medicine.

But usually with benzos for panic attacks should only be used during the actual panic attack correct? I've got a small prescription for emergencies and just knowing I have them short-circuits most panic attacks before my adrenaline dumps. I take maybe one or two pills a year now.

Yep, and that was a high profile job, now imagine all the other low-rise buildings that fly under the radar.
