TBH I'm not sure gas users are going to make out any better than oil users this winter... I keep my apartment at around 62 and filled up my tank before the cold started... I haven't even gotten to 7/8ths of a tank yet. If I was heating with gas though I probably would be spending $$$ more. My apartment is also in a really old ass building in a historical district, I do what I can to insulate but there isn't a lot to be done to modernize it.

I am shaky on CT policy but in RI we have a public utilities commission. It’s a public board of appointed members and they vote to approve an increase in rate request from a utility. They either say no or yes… and the saying here is they always say yes. There’s always a Public hearing, but they always do say yes. They don’t really say well you asked for 10 you really only need 5 to break even, well give you 7. They just give 10. It’s so frustrating.

for me it's not that she's. not from here, it's that she hasn't made any attempt to actually be a part of her community in Rhode Island. hard to do that when you move here in January and immediately start running for office.
