I’m finding myself recovering from this mindset. I sold my house (EDIT: sold because I couldn’t work from home due to noise and neighbors threatened to kill me when I complained about noise) and moved in with a family member who needs a caretaker and was having difficulty finding one until I could find a condo, but interest rates and the sharp increase in prices I’ve seen since they announced the $17500 for first time buyers is making that not a reality. There is a terrible mold issue in this house and my face swells to a point I can’t open my eyes and I constantly feel like I have the flu. The mold doesn’t bother the family member so they are not willing to spend money to remediate. Now I find myself looking at apartment after apartment that is fine with someone having 2 cats but not my 11 pound dog. Now I’m in a position where I either have to get rid of a dog I’ve had for 5 years and effectively be blacklisted from adopting from a rescue again (believe me, they’re like the mob they find these things out) or stay where my health is in peril.

The only one I would probably think twice about bringing a kid to is Oberlin and more because it’s nicer and on the small side and I could see other patrons not easily ignoring a kid there.

I go to Hope Vet on the Scituate/Cranston line. I know they have a relatively new doctor and she seems to have a deep interest in pain management for dogs- there’s even a new pain management page on their website. My dog goes to dr Chang there and all of my dogs growing up went to Dr St Amand. They do still follow some fairly strict Covid precautions if that is something you’re not down with.

Question, do you use city trash pickup or does your landlord provide a dumpster? If your house has a dumpster and doesn’t use or qualify for trash pickup that may be why waste management isn’t picking up the items. They may have scheduled it when they shouldn’t have.

If you do have city trash cans/pickup call PVD311 with the confirmation number and the day it should have been picked up. They escalate it to WM that they didn’t do their job (and probably charged providence for a pick up they didn’t do) and they also will look for and reverse any tickets you may have gotten for trash being out on the sidewalk. They did this for me when WM didn’t pick up my mattresses and I had to be out of the house in two days or so- a truck came and got them within hours.

Nursing homes will often hire teens to work in the kitchen. I did that in HS, the hours weren’t bad -worked 4-7:30ish if I was scheduled for a night and usually worked the day shift (6-2:30) every other weekend and picked up holidays and stuff when I could for extra cash. The hours were nice too because you could still go do something after work on a Friday or Saturday night.

Miriam hospital was the place everyone I know got it, they were running a clinic for people who had potential for reactions to vaccines and were administering the J&J one. The waitlist was like 2 month out though for a while. Not sure if they’re still running the clinic or not. The lifespan site only mentions their urgent cares have specifically have Moderna.

Not all doctors offices are allowed to do all vaccines. The DOH can actually pull their vaccine permissions if they have too many instances with things like the fridge being out of temp. The Covid Vax has to be kept super cold so they might not have the right freezer type to stock it.
