If only a thing existed that was concrete, about 6” tall, ran along the ground, and encircled the stop sign… like curbing.

They’ll figure it out sooner or later

Why would the irs waste time going after a few hundred dollars when they are understaffed and the return on investment for that is so low? How many poor people do you know who have been audited? Or a better question- who do rich people fear and despise the most? (The IRS, of course) They look for taxpayers who generate red flags like excessive or unlikely deductions to reduce very high dollar tax liabilities, they aren’t wasting time on poor people.

I just dropped Acuity for my business liability insurance. My policy I’ve had with them for 15 years almost doubled in the last couple years. I went to a different agent and they showed me 3 other policies from other companies that were about 40% less than acuity. I’ve never had a claim with acuity, and my business income has been steady…they just decided to increase my policy in the hopes I wouldn’t notice, I guess.

I didn’t realize you expected a full encyclopedic entry on the effects of colonization on the forests, waterways, and indigenous peoples of the northeast area of the North American continent… you insufferable, know-it-all, windbag. I’ll try harder next time… to avoid you.

I was expounding on what you said, actually.

The construction of my house in 1947 probably required 10-20 mature trees… so two trees a decade. I’m well aware of the environmental footprint there, which is why I try to preserve the structure by maintaining it as close to it’s original form as possible. Also aware of the fact that I burn 2 cords of wood a year for heat, which I harvest sustainably from the woodlot on my property that I’m fortunate to own and care for.

And I’m aware that forests have been decimated in the past and are at a tipping point now that requires a different way of thinking than was historically done. The decimation I’m talking about is the scenario where shade-providing, aesthetically important street trees are removed to save people the inconvenience of an occasional power outage.

A lot of things are risky… heck getting into your car and driving anywhere poses a real risk of death or injury, but we do it, even if it’s just to go get tacos. There’s always a risk/benefit ratio to analyze for each individual, and sometimes helping someone out is worth the obvious risks.

Companies spend an inordinate amount of time and money ridding the workplace of rats and cockroaches. According to your logic, that means that rats and cockroaches are beneficial to the worker.

That’s a cheeky response, I know, but the fact is, there are pros and cons to unionization of labor, it’s certainly not always good for the workers. Try googling the pros snd cons of labor unions for a balanced viewpoint on the subject.
