Actually for the last three years we’ve been experiencing Lanina conditions which makes things colder here than the otherwise would be.
And within the next few months the El Niño and La Nina weather cycle is actually supposed to enter a neutral phase.
And none of that accounts for the radical change in climate we’ve been experiencing over the last few decades and especially over the last decade.
But keep on watching Fox News and popping out misinformation tp discount the serious nature and threat of climate change.
Unfucking believable ignorance

Gotta love the ignorance of comments like this
And as far as utility bills go I had to install air conditioning in my house this past summer for the first time ever and will have to run it more frequently during the summer year after year as things continue to get worse.

I didn’t realize that cities were banning them entirely but after thinking about it it’s obviously a good practice
If people want to use gas stoves in an area where their vented fumes aren’t going to end up in somebody elses building that’s entirely different

That makes sense in a city where venting your stove outside often means venting up into neighbors windows above you.
In fact there was a post on Reddit just last week or so that got a lot of attention on the front page where someone reported that they had been on all kinds of medications for breathing problems until they figure it out that a restaurant located at street level was venting out of their building and all the gases were coming up through their open window into their apartment located on a higher level just across the alleyway.
So banning gas stoves entirely within a city makes perfect sense and is a good practice

The government is not taking away anyone’s gas stove and no one has suggested that they should
For anyone who doesn’t realize it an unhooded and unvented gas stove is a serious risk to indoor air quality and your health
At some point in the future state and/or the federal government may require any new constructions with gas stoves to include an outdoor vented hood. That would just be common sense and good practice.

Dear MAGA conservatives and other various far righters as well as christian nationalists and mega church lovers:
You will not fit in here.
You will not find yourselves welcomed in the State or its communities.
Don’t make the mistake of thinking that because Maine is one of the whitest states that your toxic views will be supported or condoned here.
Outside of a few town crazies most people will shun and avoid you.
Maine is overall a liberal state and it’s homegrown conservatives tend to be moderate.
And despite the fact that Maine has many churches and many people who attend services it come out in survey after survey to be the least religiously zealous state in the nation.
If people here attend church at all they tend to do it in a casual manner and the churches tend to function as a social clubs And mutual support centers more than anything else.
There’s a strong ethic of live and let live here and proselytizing and religious fanatics are very much looked down upon.

I encourage everyone reading this post to check your account history for themselves.
Disagreeing with me doesn’t make you a corporate shill, BEING a blatant and obvious corporate shill account is what makes you a corporate shill.
You’re doing such a horrible job on Reddit promoting the interests of CMP that if I was your paymaster at CMP I would fire you immediately

My account is the genuine account of a tax paying and voting Maine Citizen
It’s a typical tactic of corporate crooks to accuse their opponents of spreading the type of disinformation that they themselves are spreading
And it’s laughable that you would suggest that CMP or versant have any interest at all in opposing climate change because they certainly do not. Their only interest is in their own profit.
Every time that you make a comment with one of the corporate sock puppet shill accounts that you have created you only encourage Maine citizens on Reddit to give even more support to the Pine tree State power initiative ballot measure.

With a little bit of artful financial accounting it’s very easy for them to benefit from the supply rate going up and they also benefit from the delivery rates going up which have also risen dramatically over the past several years.
Both CMP and Versant Power in fact currently have proposed hikes in their delivery rates before the PUC.
These two corporations are incredibly corrupt and they actively corrupt our government in their own interests.
Vote for the pine tree State powers initiative in 2023!

All rate hikes must be first requested by CMP and/or Versant
They then use their vast wealth and political capital to pressure the PUC into passing them
