People going through reds is insane here. Literally crossed the street today and had a minivan run red well after it turned and drive through a gap all of us in the crosswalk, she barely fit in, cause freakin’ mini van -_-
I swear I shouldn’t be shocked, but still am infuriated every time I see a story about a pedestrian killed by a negligent driver. May she rest in peace…

Nah, Ticketmaster always defaults to 2 as far as I know. I always just select 1 and go buy the ticket for whatever event I want to go to. I say this as someone who goes to metal shows alone frequently.
Hope you have fun, OP!

As someone who lives in MD, but doesn’t drive or own a car, please lol … My most recent honorable interaction with a Maryland driver was literally crossing on my turn and the car was already through the intersection ready to blast by me as soon as there was enough room. Can only imagine the disaster NYE is gonna be

For what it’s worth, I don’t think any metrobus operator will ask questions. If the tap doesn’t work just keep walking. Though I hope you solve your mystery, sounds annoying to pay the pass and have it not work.

Porch pirates got a surprise if they steal any of my cards going out or coming in.. me and my friends are broke and just send each other free leaflets we find at cafes in our cities.

I’ve almost been killed by someone going around a car waiting for me to cross. Sad part is I feel nothing anymore whenever I have close calls. Thank you for stopping for them even though it didn’t really work.

At least the first guy didn’t flip you off and cuss that you were in the way. Only being cussed out for crossing the street in a crosswalk 1/2 is a win… 😑
Edit: if it’s only one car and me at an intersection, I let them go first now. No point in playing chicken, even if we’re doing everything right as pedestrians.

Reply to Bus With DC Public School Children Crashes, Driver Faces DWI Charge In Fairfax County by FairfaxGirl
I remember I was on a school bus when I was 11 and thought the driver was gonna drive us off the edge of the mountain we were on to get back home from a sports event. I kept seeing the metal barrier getting closer, closer, further, closer. It’s scary to be on a school bus where the driver doesn’t have control!

Same. Where I moved from was so bike friendly I didn’t even mind riding on the streets with other cars. Here? Never in a million years.

Unfortunately, I’m not even shocked. Beating on a lady and throwing her off the bus really drove home how groups of teens of the area really don’t care for anything but themselves and “clout” with their peers.

As we’ve seen recently, rowdy groups of teens do what they want, no matter what is happening or who might be harmed.

I’ve honestly been studying pedestrian techniques of the streets of Vietnam (their cars don’t stop on busy streets), and implemented some of the techniques since I think DC drivers are very similar. The cars won’t stop, so pedestrians gotta be vigilant and creative.
Stay safe out there!
