This looks to be true!

On August 10, 2022, Massachusetts, complying with the recent Bruen decision, repealed the legislative language that permitted police departments to impose carry restrictions on LTCs as well as the criminal penalties that could be imposed for carrying outside of a restriction.

The new legislation, Chapter 174 of the Acts of 2022, was passed with an emergency preamble, which means it was effective immediately upon the Governor’s signature. (Read the new bill here:

You're looking at ~ $2k/month to rent a comparable spot in the middle of Massachusetts.

If you are going to be in the state for 7+ years it would be much cheaper to buy a home right now, especially in Worcester County. Rates are high 7%+, but you can always refinance and if you're ever planning to go back to Ohio your home will probably be worth much more than you purchased it for. :)

You can always postpone it - they will come knocking (via mail) the next year though lol.

Massachusetts is probably one of the safest States as a whole, but you have your sketchy areas just like anywhere. Pittsfield is on the smaller side for a MA city and the area is pretty safe, but I haven't been out that far in about 10 years. Springfield on the other hand used to list in the upper top 10 for most violent cities in the country and rightfully so as it was a war zone 10-15 years ago. It's changed quite a bit, but I'd still tread lightly if you head there as its close to Pittsfield, deceitful in appearance, and still sketchy as hell lol.
