Bathys is physically smaller. Lighter (with more plastic in the build). Of course more portable.
Sound wise they’re similar, but I find Bathys does have a slight veil (which can be tweaked in EQ). Bass is more pronounced on Radiance. Mids are similar, but Bathys has a dip at 1k (which is also fixed in the EQ in the app). They’re both the Focal house sound.
Radiance has more stage and separation. Detail is similar.
I prefer the Radiance though at the house as the differences are enough for me to notice and enjoy. The Bathys are definitely my portable choice and as well are great. I just wish I had more adjustment options as I’m maxed out on the yokes.
I’m still learning to identify differences in timbre and separation and resolution. So I hope that helps.

My Clear Mg pads are $124 for the pair direct from Focal. Same for my Radiance.

I own the Clear Mg, Radiance, and Bathys. I’m a fan.

When a person is indicted, they are given formal notice that it is believed that they committed a crime. There usually will be a criminal trial held.

Definitely worth just having the lightning to 3.5 around.
In a perfect world we’d still have headphone jacks.
toastyhoodie t1_je2zcph wrote
Why would you go through all that hassle when a lightning to 3.5mm is literally $10.
And no, it wouldn’t work with what you have.

Apple Music. Comes with my Verizon plan, and it’s solid.

I have a few.
Open: Focal ClearMg
Closed: Focal Radiance
Wireless Over Ear: Focal Bathys
Wireless TWS: Galaxy Buds2 Pro
Wired IEM: Blessing 2: Dusk
I like to listen to the rest here and there to keep my ear trained, but my Focals hit me in the feels when I sit back and just close my eyes and just….listen.

They definitely get sticker shock when I tell them I have 30ish ranging from $14 to $1400.
I usually speak with such enthusiasm about it, they get interested too.
And since I usually have my Bathys with me, I’ll give them a little taste and then they get it.
They may find it a little strange, but I tell them people have strange collections all the time. Mine just happens to be enjoying music on great sounding gear.

The headphone has an amp built in as it’s Bluetooth
It also has USB C connectivity to use the onboard dac exclusively.
As far as resistance, I don’t honestly know as I haven’t used it with the 3.5mm option.
I know Focals are usually efficient

I have a large head as well. I don’t have an issue with depth in the cups, however I do wish I had one more adjustment notch on the headband as I’m fully extended. I don’t feel I’m stretching to get into the center of the cups though.

Taking a well needed vacation this week. Of course I had to have my music on my balcony to enjoy the water and sunrise with. This is much more convenient than when I brought my Schiit and HD6XX to my last vacation, lol.
The Bathys are definitely my Bluetooth of choice. So versatile, and blow my old AirPods Max out of the water (no pun intended)
I did bump up around 1k about 2db for that mid dip, but its just a nice relaxing experience to listen to these.
