I don't think they owe anything to any other writers, even as a fan, the only thing that I would ask is that they try to write the best books that they can. I wonder if the idea that an author should put out one book in a series per year is a relatively new idea

Any Foreign country positioning themselves to compete with the US in the next 50 years would have to love this line of thinking. A country that prioritizes trades over college education will not be able to compete with China(for example)

Not to be macabre but there are easier ways to hurt a kid, if that's what you are trying to do.
