Eddie Bauer makes great fleece-lined down blankets. 2 sizes. Recommended you Get them when they are on sale. I own 5.

Failing that, Costco regularly sells quite good Sherpa fleece blankets in the months before winter. Great value (I have 3 of those too!)

You could also get fleece-lined tights from Eddie Bauer. My wife and daughter have them and rave about them.

Look at baby blankets, some super soft, warm options and they would be lap size.

I put a plug in oil radiating heater under the table. Fill a sock with dry rice tie it off and nuke 3 minutes or so adjust for your microwave strength. Drape over knees.

Try an electric lounging blanket, they’re inexpensive, use very little power and have auto shut off etc. Lifesaver for me

A good quality wool blanket. I personally like Topsy Farms as a smaller, family owned company- I have 2 wool blankets from them that are about 20 years old now. I also have a Hudson Bay blanket that's older than me as well.
I recently got an alpaca throw blanket from AppalachainGearCompany that is a bit lighter weight but so far is great when I just need a little something. I can't say for sure it's a BIFL but so far it seems good quality.

The electric blanket throw I have from Amazon is:

Tefici Electric Heated Blanket Throw,Super Cozy Soft Flannel 50" x 60" Heated Throw with 3 Fast Heating Levels & 4 Hours Auto Off,Machine Washable,ETL&FCC Certification,Home Office Use,Moose

I have several actually. They last a long time and are nice and warm. Sometimes I have to turn it down. It's currently $31.

Certainly not BIFL but I don't know of any BIFL electric blankets.

I have a Pendleton merino wool throw blanket, I love it cause it’s a bit softer and not too big.

Macausland Woolen Mills has a nice lap blanket size and they are super warm. You didn't list what country you are in, but they are in Canada. If you are an American , the exchange rate is in your favour. They are quite a bit cheaper than Hudson's Bay or Pendelton and better quality, using wool local to them from the Maritimes and New England. (Pendelton used to buy local wool and stopped, leaving a lot of Oregonian sheep farmers in the lurch and my fam are all still bitter about it)

Otherwise I agree with the electric throw blanket suggestions, or slipping a heating bad under a blanket to warm your thighs and those big blood vessels. Slippers help too, more than you'd think! But what would probably give you the most bang for your buck is a small portable heater pointed right at you.

Topsy Farms are great. Their blankets are made by Macausland Woolen Mills which is who I suggested, but buying directly from farms is always pretty swell as well if they have any left from last shearing!

I wear genuine ugg boots, use a microwave wheat pack (buy a new one every few years as the wheat is eventually super dry and a fire risk), and a good quality wool blanket—mine’s from Waverley Mills which is an Australian company—they last forever, just wash with wool wash on delicate/cold at the end of winter and pack away with something to stop clothes moths getting to them.

Anything wool! Just grab a normal wool blanket from the thrift store and fold it a couple of times! You'll be super toasty.

HBC wool point blanket. Got mine from an antique store, in great condition, got it cleaned, used it ever since! It’s the perfect blanket, and like other people said, nothing like a good wool blanket.

Yep, once you get one, you can't go back! I have a small electric 'throw' for the couch and a bigger regular size one for the bed. THen you don't need to heat the house much either which saves $$. OK yeah, it's not BIFL, but saving money should get an honorable mention!
