If you think calling a set of observations over time is an "anecdote" ok, but I disagree. It's objective evidence. My clothes are fine. There is nothing more to say. I didn't say every Speed Queen is the same as mine. But I have yet to see an owner say their clothes were torn up.

I don't need anecdotes - I have direct experience. My Speed Queen washes fine. I wash lots of different kinds of clothes from different age groups. Sometimes I have 10 people in the house and someone is always doing laundry.
I don't think Wirecutter is much of a source and I stopped reading The NY Times a long time ago. I've got my own data. Of course you don't have to buy a Speed Queen, it's just something that has worked well for me for several years.

Speed Queens do not damage clothes. I have owned a Speed Queen washer for several years and my clothes are fine. And they are quite clean.

I have Demeyere and All-Clad. Both are great. Demeyere is more beautiful imo. My son inherited my mother's Demeyere - it actually is built for life. I think All-Clad might be heritable too.
(I frequently do stew tomato sauce for hours - spaghetti sauce -- and that's one thing I don't use my cast iron for.)

I have a Speed Queen. I've only had it about six years which is not long, but no repairs, works like a charm. Machines with no/few electronics are going to last longer in general.

I am a total gas stove fanatic but the one electric appliance I really appreciate is my tea kettle. Really, it's easier - turns itself off and never boils dry.

All-Clad or Demeyere will outlast you. I am not sure I'd buy a set - you could wait for individual pieces to go on sale so you get just those pieces you need.

As a parent, I understand the house train. But you seem to so enjoy moving around and you appear to be earning your living, so do what you like. It's your life, not theirs. Just be kind to your parents, they mean well.

Plastic is not great. (Only 9% of plastic waste has ever been recycled.) Pyrex is very good although the lids on mine are starting to lose their snap-into-place-ness. They are several years old and maybe I can just replace the lids.

This is all correct. Charities are very efficient at helping you leave them your money. I'll bet they make it downright pleasant. And attorney, yes.

Don't buy a house with a bad school system. Buy the expensive one or wait till something else comes along. If it were me, I'd be a little afraid of the expensive house but I'd probably buy it because it seems suitable (and then be super frugal for awhile).

My last three years of college not-in-a-dorm were memorable. I often think of them and absolutely loved them. Do what you want to do, don't be manipulated through money. You'll buy your own car someday.

I have multi clad All Clad and cast iron and I always reach for the cast iron. I cook everything in it and it always turns out perfectly. I do like the All Clad sauce pans but not the skillets. Just leave the cast iron on the stove if it's heavy.
The small cast iron skillets make heavenly fried eggs.

I don't see why people don't buy Lodge unless they really need the LeCreuset aesthetic. Lodge lasts forever and is very affordable.

They can get social security at 62 and Medicare at 65. It is entirely on them to take care of their health - you have no power to change their habits.

What I do is try to engage them in conversation and ask them if they know anyone who can help me and what should I do? (I'm shameless.) Some people respond and some don't but I often learn something. Ask any attorneys you or your family know who you could go to. Stretch your geographic area if you have to.

You are getting great advice. I don't have much to add except you can get an AdBlocker and really enjoy YouTube. I don't know what else comes with Premium as I would never pay money for YouTube -- ad-free YouTube is more than good enough for me. I find plenty there to watch and have no streaming (except once in a while I watch an Amazon Prime movie but I am supporting several family members on Amazon Prime and it's worth it for us - unlike Netflix's new policy Amazon doesn't care as long as you are buying stuff). Good luck!!

I have several actually. They last a long time and are nice and warm. Sometimes I have to turn it down. It's currently $31.
Certainly not BIFL but I don't know of any BIFL electric blankets.
