what are your go-to bars as the weather gets cold? i recently moved to Cambridge and am looking for cozy pubs, ideally serving warm drinks and with a fireplace (preferably wood burning) with winter almost upon us.

Atwood's is an excellent choice. Live music a lot of nights too!

i hope so! the crackling and smell of a wood burning vs gas fireplace makes a big difference with the cozy factor, in my opinion.

i haven't been able to definitively confirm, but seems like olde magoun's saloon (in somerville, not cambridge) might have one

The best ones - like The Field - closed in the early stages of the pandemic. Druid is cool.

it's not cambridge, or boston, but the Publick House in Brookline has a fireplace... though I don't know if it's in use any more. It certainly was back in the day. Regardless, it's cozy af, so there's that.

In Cambridge, I think Christopher's has a fireplace. I know for a fact that in Harvard Square the Red House has a fireplace and if you go in there early or midweek you can sit right in front of it.
