This was one of my favorite places to go for seafood! Will be sorely missed

Always a good value for the dollar. Biggest drawback is that is was right next to the sewage treatment plant. Hopefully it will reemerge in a better suburban location.

Used to be fantastic. It's taken a bit of a downturn the last couple of years, so I'm not that surprised. Still, it was a fun place to go.

What did you like there? Wasn't it more of a fried joint? Did it seem like there was a staff shortage when you went?

Isn't this one IV and the Branford one is III? What happened to I and II did those exist?

My brother is gonna be very unhappy. In our family, we take the birthday celebrant out to dinner and they pick the restaurant. My brother has been choosing Chowder Pot for as long as they've been there
His birthday is next week - looks like it will be his last one there :(

Definitely not a staff shortage when I was there. Also, the waitress was extremely attentive. There were actually a couple larger groups celebrating the holidays that day. I just liked the old school vibe there. Pretty traditional menu, nothing too fancy. Also, always reminded me of going there as a kid.

It had declined in recent years. But I will miss it.
So where is the replacement seafood restaurant in Hartford?

I went there once for my birthday (I was a teenager) and ordered a lobster. (They knew it was my birthday, my mom brought a cake). When the food came, my lobster had I claw that was seriously mangled. Black, missing a good portion, and totally disfigured. I looked at it and started crying. My mom asked if I wanted a different one and I nodded yes. She told the waitress who told us that there was nothing wrong with it and said that if I really wanted a new one, it would be 20-25 minutes. By the time it.came, everyone else was finished and I felt like an ass with everyone staring at me while I ate it. Literally the absolute worst birthday and I never went back to that place again.
Go to Westbrook Lobster. They won’t serve you mangled black lobsters on your birthday, make you feel like a Jackass for not wanting it and then make you wait an entire prep time because they would t cook a replacement on the fly. F the Chowder Pot. I’m still mad at them.
