There's a C-Town 60 seconds down the road (by car to be fair) and the air quality around there is fairly good. There have been some shootings, robberies etc in the area, but OP is not going to be at any real risk if they aren't wandering the streets at night harassing people.
You do want to be closer to Boston than Barnum though imo
"Some shootings, robberies" means that you are at an increased risk of experiencing those things. Life is hard enough, no reason to add the potential for more PITA crap to happen to you if you can avoid it.
Here is an example. My buddy had his stock car radio stolen out of his car during the day in a school parking lot in that neighborhood. A GATED SCHOOL PARKING LOT. Sure no one was hurt, but do you really want to introduce the annoyance of things like that if you can avoid it?
If you don't have to live in a neighborhood where those things occur there is no reason to.
It might be a little noisy with the hospital nearby, and Harding High isn't far, so there will be some teenage shenanigans in the area, but otherwise, it's fine. It's far enough to the East.
Yeah I am actually looking for an apartment near the hospital since it is near to my workplace and I don't have a car yet..Just to have a start in Bridgeport ..I am not looking for anything fancy.. Thank you đ
People will clutch their pearls because its Bridgeport. Yes, there is crime higher than the rest of the State. Yes, the East End is rougher. You'll have kids fighting and do teen stuff around the high school.
Realistically, though, you need to be able to get to work, and you're likely on a budget. I worked in the local news for nearly a decade. North of the hospital was mostly car accidents on rt 1.
Look, as having lived in Bridgeport, some common sense and you'll be fine. Lock doors (home/car) and try to keep your car 100% free of valuables. Other than that, no different than anywhere else.
I don't live in that neighborhood, but in my experience living in BPT for nearly a decade as long as you have street smarts, mind your own business, but have situational awareness you should be ok. Granted I'm a 6'4" male, so your mileage may vary.
Well..there's that đ

as what i have told bridgeport crime rate is high but others told me it's the same in other places there are good and bad places .
Im not sure what people are expecting you are moving into a city with a variety of people good and bad, living in closer quarters.
I love Bridgeport, but I have lived in some type of city my whole life and prefer this than living in rural area. Other towns have just as much issues- people just have more money to hide their problems & create a better image of their town.
As long as you are not out there flashing what you have & being aware of your surroundings you will be fine.
One of the qualities i have loved about growing up in cities is being exposed to different people, cultures & experiences. There are many hardworking people still living in the cities , who care about family & community & not everyone out there is a criminal.
I lived there before itâs not bad but itâs between the high school and middle school itâs overall quiet but anything could happen around those parts. Real close to grocery store and Stratford
These posts have been coming up alot lately. The most common response is usually, âif you have some street smartsâ. Take that as you willâŚ
Is is bad?
Its not but i would argue not the best place for walking at night. The crime rate is very much real and the city is pretty corrupt. The mayor is a convicted felon that ran, went to prison, and then ran and got elected again. Speaks volumes imo.
Might wanna take a peek here. Scroll down to check out some of these stats:
Crime index
Crimes per square mile compared to the rest of CT.
And last, but not least, look at âMY CHANCES OF BECOMING A VICTIM OF A VIOLENT CRIMEâ
No, thank you though.
To be fair itâs one in 184. Thatâs not at all bad, and even locking your doors, and avoid walking out at night in certain neighborhoods keep you safe and out of trouble.
Based on your statistics, less than 8,000 of the 148,000 people living there will be a victim of a violent crime. So as long as op is careful they have a good chance of being fine.
8 out of every 148 people being a victim of violent crime is not okay.
Better off looking in Startford, CT. Bridgeport is a terrible dump
Terrible dump is a harsh term. In all reality OP should be fine like many of Bridgeportâs 148,000 residents
Fine if you like living in a cesspool

I lived in Bridgeport for 25 year total in my life. This is in the Mill Hill area, not in the east end. No this is not a neighborhood I would live in. In that exact neighborhood there are really good, hardworking people. There are also a lot of murders, car thefts, muggings, ect.
Another thing that people on here probably wont mention is this area of town used to have a lot of industry and has a lot of dilapidated buildings. The air quality is NOT GOOD.
There is no full Grocery Store in this neighborhood, just mini marts and bodegas.
There are 100% areas of Bridgeport I would still live in. Black Rock, The North End, & Brooklawn.
Just like any other major city you will probably be fine if you mind your business, have a garage to park your car, are not flashy, ect, but statistically that neighborhood is not good.
I love Bridgeport this is not a nock on the town. If you can afford to live elsewhere please do so.
