I (39m) have been living a life without taking any risks. I have fear of failure that prevent me from taking actions that will improve my life. Also I lack self discipline that will prevent me from completing activities or courses that may have improved my life.

Think back to the times where you worried that something bad would happen but after the event, nothing what you worried about happened at all.

At your age I'd recommend start working out and see a therapist. Read more too. This doesn't happen overnight or in a week. There ain't no book or pill that will alter you deeply. It's a process called life. You haven't learned from your last or there are obvious reasons from your last why you became you. Now it's time for loving yourself in a healthy way. Becoming a man. I know, weird term but you get what I'm saying. I'm in my 40s. Therapy helped change my life along with all the work I had to do. I'm a single dad. So I also know I have to be a good example.

Failure and the ability to recognize what went wrong and where improvements can be made is essential in learning. A life without failure is a life spent walking in circles. Take some assessed risks and enjoy the experience

Without failure, learning is not possible. It's the lessons we learn from them that make us better. One thing that has always helped me is starting small. Set a goal and do not try to take it all on at once, otherwise you will get discouraged and give up. Like if you want to be able to do a 5K do not just go sign up for one. Go for a 5 min walk, then a 10..15.. and so on. Good luck.

Try not to obsess that you have to do a Big Thing and let that block you. Just do the first little thing to get on the rung of the ladder. Like, go to the library and read a book about it. Or, call someone who could be a mentor. Or, buy the supplies. Then do the next little thing. Life isn't usually about jumping into the deep end of the pool, most things require you to wade out, and it can seem daunting if you don't set small interim goals. Also, remember this is not easy. Reward yourself at the little milestones along the way to keep yourself motivated.
