What rap music can anyone recommend that does not contain profanities or racial slurs?

A lot. A lot of underground, progressive, and Christian hip hop. Don't sleep on their skills. Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Lauryn Hill, Digable Planets, De la Soul, Cross Movement rappers.
"Will Smith don't gotta cus in his raps to sell records but I do, so **** him and **** you too"
Most of Brother Ali’s stuff is pretty clean. Heavy, but generally clean
DeepSpace5 and any of the rappers associated will definitely be great options.
Most of it from the 80s
Run DMC
LL Cool J never used profanity either, though he was sometimes ... Pretty creative with the potty mouth all the same
One be lo
While I love Tribe Called Quest, and they are undeniably great, they do not rap without profanity or the N-word (is it a racial slur in the context that they use it in…?).
Whoa, I never thought of this but you're right
Pharcyde literally has a song entitled “Oh Shit!”
Will Smith slaps
CupcakKe
As another commenter noted, most of the clean rap that you’ll find will be in the 80s prior to the gangsta rap movement.
Young MC’s Stone Cold Rhyming album (containing “Bust A Move”) is really good and clean of profanity (contains a few mild sexual references).
Lupe Fiasco’s a good start
I guess I was referring more to the positive message, but you’re right.
Mystikal would be a good start
They literally have a song where the chorus is the n word lmao
“I like the Fresh Prince, he raps happy”
Bushwick Bill was very Christian, too.
Immortal Technique
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony
Still some explicit lyrics but ultimately pretty clean (and smart)
#SHAKE YA ASS
Almost anything before 1985. Sugarhill Gang, etc..
It's actually deep and hilarious, at the same time. If you listen to the words, it's about his failing attempts to not say it.
Pretty sure Chamillionaire was known for not cursing.
Like “fuck the pain away” peaches?
Dead Prez
Aesop Rock
It is very rare that I would recommend anyone listen to an explicitly Christian artist, but the rap collective LA Symphony was fantastic (now broken up, but find their music).
Chamillionare’s later albums I believe are clean.
I think Can I Kick it? is probably one of their only clean tracks. It's famously the song that every middle school music teacher uses when they get to their hip hop units.
Some of Chamillionaire's stuff, Ultimate Victory in particular, is clean
Always liked Digable Planets. And I never hear much talk about the UMCs, but they put out a couple of really solid albums in the 90s, esp "Fruits of Nature."
A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory
Madvillainy - Madvillain
They were not clean of profanity, but Gab’s lyrics were mostly positive.
He’s depressive instead
NF is pretty dope. No cussing.
Word. Couldn't remember any "profanity" but I really don't register that shit...
Surely there isn't another.
The only song I know that they're on is Notorious Thugs and they're great on it, but calling it pretty clean is... a stretch.
I CAME HERE WITH MY D*CK IN MY HAND
NF
NF for sure
Living Legends Most of the rappers that rap in the group are clean solo artists
Skee-Lo - I Wish
Fuck, what is that from?? Undercover brother?
LMAO
Most of Shad’s discography is pretty clean, and it’s dope.
nah most of it is clean except for a few tracks
Frfr, it might be hard to believe but lil peep has song talking strictly about his feelings, emotions, people he hanged around. And Will Smith was famously clean in his music as well.
Busta Rhymes, Common, John Legend, Mary J. Blige - Decision
Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige - The Message
Eminem - When I'm Gone
Eminem - 3 A.M. (I'm not kidding, so listen to it and check for yourself)
Technically Nu Metal, but….Eastcide
De la soul
Loyle Carner is awesome. Give it a try. Thoughtful, intelligent lyrics. Occasional swearing but not the focus.
Well I do ..
People Under the Stairs, really chill hip-hop/rap duo.
Thanks for some of the recommendations (I'm not the OP, but thanks anyway). Rap music is pretty much non-existent for my 12.5 year old daughter, even though she says she likes it. She hears it at school, but that's it. I might put some of these on a playlist for her. We've told her the reasons why it's not something we want her to listen to. We're all what we 'consume', whether it's food or media or friends. And I'll listen to 20 mins of rap on the various Sirius stations sometimes, and there will rarely be 45 seconds before there's another reminder why I would want anyone's kid to be listening to it.
“Eminem’s gotta cuss in his raps to sell records, well me too so **** Will Smith!”
“That don’t rhyme”
“Drats…..”
Will Smith
Bloodhound gang never disappoints… except when they do
Gift of Gab is cerebral and dense if you dig that. So is Aesop Rock but I can't remember how profane he tends to be.
Common Market, Blue Scholars, and Shad are heartfelt but less dense than the other two.
Watsky grew up middle class if you relate to that experience.
Flobots have a "fight the broken system" kind of vibe, but they might not be considered true "rap" or hip-hop.
Wordburglar is hella Canadian.
Spose comes from a rural background if that speaks to you.
I don't think Jurrasic 5, Cunninlynguists, and Intuition and Equilibrium are profane, but I haven't gone through listened to either of their discographies in ages.
R.A.P. Ferreira *(*formerly milo) likes to talk about things he feels in some intricate and sometimes hard to understand lyrics.
You'll probably find something you like in that list.
It's what cemented him as #1 in my "corniest mfers alive" list.
I feel like Madvillainy has n****s in it somewhere.
A group of people who can't sing but insist on it anyway
Sorry, I just threw up in my mouth a little bit...
The D.O.C. Didn’t swear, subject matter in the other hand…..
Jurassic 5 is pretty good
Tee Ferrari
I love Christian hip hop “My crew is big and it keeps getting bigger”
Blondie
Drunken Tiger only swears in Korean
Eric B and Rakim - Paid in Full
... I listen to Sage Francis, but I don't remember if he curses.
Try jesus is king and donda, all profanities or racial slurs are removed on official release.
Yeah his lyrics are basically an outlet for his difficult upbringing and depression. One of his albums is literally called “therapy session”. Big respect to him, he’s also a Christian but it more comes out as just a genuine part of his life in his lyrics at times - it’s not like he makes “Christina rap” which is often cringey.
But yeah, his material is heavy so be aware of that.
Great artist, but definitely not clean.
Psyche Origami - The Standard. Whole album's clean (well, 99% clean, a couple very mild profanities).
I recommend “rockstar made” by Playboi carti!
True, not entirely, but far more so than most.
Todd Rundgren “The Individualist”
They drop the F bomb a few times
He dropped the F bomb at least once

Anyone who doesn't recognize these lyrics can't call themselves a true rap fan.

Good answer, I was just thinking about Chali 2na
“Splash splash, I was taking a bath” 🛁
Does this qualify?
NF
I'm not sure at all, but haven't noticed any of these in most of Nujabes music
Harry Mack
I was just listening to quality control though and they do drop an N bomb in there so I guess its how clean it needs to be.
Oh yeah, don't play that one in church lol
