Dope! Like I said, I'd wanna go somewhere where I wouldn't have to think so much & would just let the music take me & do with me as it will.

Dunno how much you'll love these as much as I do, but these kinds of tracks just get me fired up & ready to let loose. Disclaimer: it's definitely recommended to have some good headphones or speakers where you'll be able to hear & appreciate the low end as much as the mid.

[LSDREAM X INZO - BLASTA] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0iTClWkQRPw) - probably my favorite EDM track released this year. Has all the best qualities of the genre that I adore: funky, heavy, produced well, showcases both artist's qualities so damn well. That last drop with the scream is just chefs kiss

[Au5 - Snowblind (ft. Tasha Baxter)] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkWadKHAnPI) - This song is just so beautiful. Tasha's vocals are incredible, the drops have mixes of drum n bass to melodic to heavy. Complete package of a track. Au5 is a master of his mixing too. If you like this, there's so many artists in this vein you might adore, like..

[ILLENIUM - Blame Myself (Virtual Riot remix)] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBJIqOhLTvo) - More along the melodic dubstep side. Lyrics could be decently relevant right now for you as well. He's got an album coming out soon too & I've enjoyed the singles a lot so far, like [All That Really Matters] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gxxW5NqICc).

[Seven Lions x ILLENIUM x Said The Sky - Rush Over Me (ft. HALIENE)] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhA55hYnoHw) - Another melodic one. HALIENE's voice is so angelic & mixed so well into the track. Lyrics are very touching as well.

[Seven Lions x Excision x Wooli w/ Dylan Matthew - Another Me] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7pZR9hZ9XU) - Good mix of artists here with Seven Lions great at making emotional melodic builds & then Excision & Wooli bringing the heavy. A nice segue into the next dude, since he's a bit of an Excision Lite.

[Midnight Tyrannosaurus - Brain Sludge] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKDYqJfvgsQ) - Love the Borderlands Psycho samples. Much heavier though but I'd want a little aggression to release some of the anger I may feel about the ongoing situation. Midnight T can make a hell of a buildup & once the "bad time" comes, I'm completely fucking lost in the sauce.

Decent little selection there. If you like them & want more, I'll definitely share more as I love this music way too much.

VNV NATION -- "Gratitude"

https://youtu.be/CFeHyWxuPcI

.............................................

It is not love, if love is cold to touch.

It is not belief, when there's nothing there to trust.

Could not submit, would never bring myself to heel.

Determination grows, as each truth's revealed.

Torn and repaired, just to endure it all again.

Without a reason, for my place in all this pain.

Though well concealed, the scars, they just compound.

Until there's nothing left -- of what once was my former self.

My god, look at what we are now.

Without regret for all the things that we have done.

Thank you for all the doubts, and for all the questioning.

For all the loneliness and for all the suffering.

For all the emptiness, and the scars it left inside.

It inspired in me -- an impetus to fight.

For the conviction, for the purpose found along.

For the strength and courage, that in me I've never known.

And if it seems to you, that my words are undeserved.

I write this in gratitude -- for whatever good it serves.

Sometimes I wish, that you could see me now.

In the rightful place, where I knew that I belonged.

Sometimes I wish, that you might someday understand.

And close the chapter, and lay to rest the past.

But nothing would change, we make the best of what we have.

For we are measured by the actions of our lives.

We bide our time, let the future unfold.

Like immortals, in great legends to be told.

My god, look at what we are now.

Without regret for all the things that we have done.

Thank you for all the doubts, and for all the questioning.

For all the loneliness and for all the suffering.

For all the emptiness, and the scars it left inside.

It inspired in me -- an impetus to fight.

To all who stood with me, when we stood as one.

Thank you for guiding me, for bringing me home.

And if it seems that I'm obliged to say these words.

I write this in gratitude, the least that you deserve.

Try radiohead. My favorites are Karma police, paranoid android, 15 step, Ful stop and weird fishes. To me radiohead feels like a more depressed version of twentyonepilots. If you want something upbeat i would recommend instrumental math rock. It sounds unique because the genre consists of songs that use odd time signatures, which feel "alive", you can find plenty of playlists with it on youtube.

Industrial (NIN, Manson, Mindless Self Indulgence)

Japanese Speedcore (DJ Sharpnel)

J-Pop (Ayumi Hamasaki, Utada Hikaru, Camui Gackt)

Agree that we need more info before we can give you recs, but just wanted to drop in to say I'm sorry about your breakup, OP! However, I think this is a great way to cope. After a breakup, I make it a point to try new restaurants, foods, drinks, etc. I invest in new habits and watch/listen to new content. If I'm financially able, I'll buy some new clothes. Just invest in yourself in new ways and build new facets of your personality that aren't associated with that chapter of your life! (with the caveat that you continue growing as a person and don't forget the lessons learned from that relationship)

More forgiving of yourself.

And your sins.

And those mistakes you made.

You've gotta try to take...

The lessons away from them.

And leave the rest behind.

Oh, regret, put it out, put it out of your mind.

All the self-loathing in the world...

Won't change a thing.

'Cause you can't go back, darlin'

The time has come for moving on.

You can't be always trying to dig up....

What you've already buried.

You've got to carry, carry, carry on.

Carry on.

It's not fair.

It's not fair.

It's not fair.

(When have you ever known the world to be a fair place?)

It's not fair.

(All things end and all things change)

It's not fair.

(You'll go back and laugh someday)

It's not fair.

(Or at least you'll learn to be okay)

'Cause you can't go back, darlin'

The time has come for moving on.

You can't be always trying to dig up...

Bowie was big in the 70s too. He was able to transform himself and his music, but kind of sold out in the 80s. Dancin in the streets with Jagger was a huge POS. Not all of his early stuff was for everyone, but he had some great pre 80s music. Petty was the same, able to keep up with the times, and never pigeon holed himself.

DAVID BOWIE -- SUNDAY

..........................

Nothing remains.

We could run when the rain slows.

Look for the cars or signs of life.

Where the heat goes.

Look for the drifters.

We should crawl under the bracken.

Look for the shafts of light on the road.

Where the heat goes.

Everything has changed.

For in truth, it's the beginning of nothing.

And nothing has changed.

Everything has changed.

For in truth, it's the beginning of an end.

And nothing has changed.

And everything has changed.

In your fear....

Of what we have become.

Take to the fire.

Now we must burn.... All that we are.

Rise together.

Through these clouds.

As on wings.

In your fear, seek only peace.

In you fear, seek only love.

In your fear, seek only peace.

In you fear, seek only love.

In your fear, in your fear.

As on wings.

This is the trip.

And this is the business we take.

This is our number.

All my trials, Lord.

Will be remembered.

Everything has changed.

I advise you not to get into the habit of avoiding music.

The only thing I can’t listen to is Modest Mouse because of an ex. But lots of other music is tied up strongly with that relationship and I still listen to it.

I feel like a lot of other music would have gone the way of Modest Mouse if I had allowed it to. And that would have been a shame.

Push through and keep listening to things you love. It’s your music. No one or nothing should take your things away from you. However, when you’re listening to this music, be mindful of the present. Allow your brain to create new associations.
