I have an ATV I'm in the process of getting. The person bought it from his friend and never bothered to transferred the title. So, on marchJanuary 31st he went to the notary and did the title transfer. I'm, obviously not buying it without a title, and the notary told him 6 weeks till he got the title in the mail, but they weren't sure. A year ago a friend got one and it only took 2 weeks.

I'm not going to go into the details on why it is important, but I'm wondering if anyone has recently transferred an ATVvehicle title and can weigh in with your experience. Edit to fix Jan-march. And apparently it doesn't matter if its an ATV title, so I suppose that opens it up to others as well.

I haven’t done an ATV title recently. All titles go to the same place though.

I needed to replace the title for a vehicle I was selling. Filed for it in August ‘22 and got it right at the end of November ‘22. So like 3, almost 4, months turn around time.

AFAIK, there’s no way to make it faster… but if you’ve been waiting since March? Yeah, I don’t think he’s selling it.

LOL. This is how it went in my brain... Look at old messages with seller... OK... On feb 1st he said yesterday. Carry the 2, March is next to February, March 31st.

Lol. I'm an idiot. January 31st is when he went to the notary. That stinks though. 3-4 months is brutal.

I recently bought a motorcycle and it took almost 2 months to get the title back from the state.

Just got transferred a truck title took about a month to get the new one. The seller actually couldn’t find the title so I gave him a deposit with a contract, and he went to Harrisburg the following week to get a new one issued same day.

Thanks. Seems like it varies quite a bit. The day I really "need" it is march 8th, which would be 5 weeks after the notary. Its tempting to just go get it and finalize the title stuff after the fact, because the guy definitely seems trustworthy after a lot of discussion. His FB profile looks and sounds like a rich yuppy in Montgomery county that used it to haul daffodils around his property, lol... but I REALLY don't want to end up with an untitled machine, as we use it on roads and trails that require registration and insurance.

He could make the trip to Harrisburg for you to expedite it, but a basic sales contract could cover you in case he doesn’t transfer the title. I basically said in mine I’d take possession of the vehicle (needed trailered), and if he didn’t produce a title to transfer to me within 30 days he refunds the deposit, reimbursed me for lost expenses, and comes and picks it up on his own time and dime. I’m no lawyer, but I’d think it hold up in small claims court, I used a template online to write one out.

I did mine January 2nd and just got the title and registration from DCNR about a week ago. The notary told me DCNR side was slow but the registration and title came the same day, right around 6 weeks. She said I could call back and she could check how far along the paperwork was, but I think that was for DCNR only since I had temporary stickers on my plate.

Not worried about the registration or plates, just the title. But that timeline matches up with what the notary said, and will essentially be a week late for what I need it to be.

Although I'm sure things ebb and flow, so who knows, I might still have hope for 5 weeks vs 6.
