I just ran to the pharmacy quickly with shorts and a zipped up jacket and as soon as I got outside I thought "goddamnit Fetterman"

I do the same thing, forgetting that this is my normal attire. It really is a PA thing hahaha

DrMatashaMurrell t1_j05vml0 wrote

No, it really is. I've never seen so many people in shorts in the cold winter before, moved to PA and it's the norm..LOL

It’s absolutely a PA thing. Doesn’t mean it’s exclusively a PA thing, but to deny is to show that you’ve never been to rural PA.

Not everyone dresses like a slob in rural PA bud.

I saw the NYT article and originally assumed the Fetterman they were talking about was Gisele.

I think style is very separate from fashion. His style is very representative of the areas he has served. He also brought a very cool Levi's campaign into Braddock back in the day.... But ya know I'm just some Pennsylvanian redditor typing this dressed in a hoodie and shorts.

eternalrefuge86 OP t1_j042wtd wrote

Exactly. I relate 💯 to how he dresses. I voted for him and am registered Republican. It was an easy choice between him and that carpetbagging, grifting, snake oil salesman.

And I’m also not surprised the republicans rip on him for his attire meanwhile voting for a Muslim when they are typically incredibly xenophobic.

rehtulx t1_j0478hx wrote

Showed how out of touch Doctor Oz was thinking he could make fun of Fetterman in a place where 90% of men dress like that.

34

eternalrefuge86 OP t1_j048xao wrote

I have no clue how the hell they thought Oz would fit in in northeast PA. It was almost like they were trolling

25

rivershimmer t1_j0dnjsy wrote

Same for southwest PA. I can only assume that his team did studies that showed a Republican had a better chance of winning a statewide race in Pennsylvania than in Jersey. But they didn't do enough research on types of Republicans.

2

eternalrefuge86 OP t1_j0e09ad wrote

Right. As stated before I’m registered Republican (that’s about to change though) and I voted straight Democrat. There really wasn’t an option

I'm an attorney and I dress like that everyday. (Obv. Not a court attorney haha).

rehtulx t1_j07aade wrote

I’m a director at a management consulting firm and my wife is an attorney—that (or female equivalent) is how we both usually dress on a day to day basis.

I would also mock anyone putting him on “most stylish” list. He is almost anti-stylish.

Otter592 t1_j06wq5k wrote

That's not what the article is about at all. It's basically a list of the most culturally relevant/impactful people or things of the year. Spotted Lanternfly was also on the list for example.

6

BFreeFranklin t1_j036e53 wrote

Putting him on that list is ridiculous—and I’m pretty sure he’d agree.

Also, who cares? He’s going to be a senator, not a model.

30

eternalrefuge86 OP t1_j0496vq wrote

I mean fair. But it’s all in good fun. To seriously rip on it is reaching.

It is the NYT. They don't really get that people have to work outside from time to time in bad weather, and Carhardt was invented for this.

1

axeville t1_j06urhm wrote

Fashion is a major industry in New York City. Entire blocks of the city devoted to design/mfg of clothing. Also every major fashion brand has a flagship store (or several) in the city. Museum of Fashion, Fashion Institute of Technology etc.
