Yes, north Lycoming County is very mountainous and the highway cuts through the mountains. Route 120 from Lock Haven to Renovo is known as the Bucktail Scenic Byway and winds along the mountains.

You can make a nice fall loop out of PA 120 W Lock Haven to Renovo, PA 144 S to Moshannon, PA 879 W to Clearfield, PA 153 N to PA 255 N to PA 555 E to Medix Run, Quehanna Highway E back to PA 879 E at Karthaus, PA 144 S to Milesburg, and PA 150 N back to Lock Haven.

I drove it last fall, but I just went from Lock Haven to Renovo and back. I also went to Hyner View State Park on that trip.
