Back in January, a ProJo reporter tweeted this out: https://twitter.com/kathyprojo/status/1488235087082758146

It's a link to a blog post about Ashley Kalus wedding, with her and her husband on camels.

But, since then, the blog post has been totally changed.

See below for the before and after.

Current: https://5starweddingdirectory.com/blog/designer-wedding-marrakech-style/

Archived: http://web.archive.org/web/20220227042135/https://5starweddingdirectory.com/blog/designer-wedding-marrakech-style/

Names and photos have been changed, but the rest is pretty much the same as before. No mention of Kalus.

Why the change, I wonder?

I heard she fought that camel to a majority decision.

The next time she tries to relate to me I'll have to remember that she needed 9 luxury suites of the Ayadina Riad while my wedding night was spent at the Hampton Inn on Douglas Pike. Thank goodness I married a low-maintenance woman.

The closest I'll come to being sad election season is almost over is the brief moment where I realized that if we had another week or two, we would definitely be getting a leaked voicemail of Ashley Kalus threatening to be beat the shit out of a wedding planner if they don't take this post down.

So she went to the London school of economics and toured Africa for her honeymoon. This makes her sound pretty intelligent and well rounded. Now I like her even more, thanks.

"Travel and adventure" sounds about right

New to Rhode Island so I googled her name. Her ā€œrags to richesā€ story that ends with her riches with her marriage was of interest. Then the articles about the nasty text exchanges between her and a contractor seemed at odds with her professed caring for allā€¦

Why does it matter how she got married?

Edit: I have no political affiliation just genuinely curious donā€™t downvote me for asking questions

I voted early and voted McKee, but I didnā€™t automatically write her off because she has an R next to her name or because she had an expensive wedding. Like you, I genuinely have no idea why this would matter or why people would make fun of her for it.

I think some people, particularly those on Reddit, just like to hate on everyone whoā€™s more well off than they are (i.e. almost everyone).

Where did I say I thought democrats were going to win? Thereā€™s a huge chance the republicans will take congress. Which leads me back to my Medicaid comment. The previous person recently asked a question about their Medicaid benefits, which is something that the Republicans continue to try to dissolve. I know this because I work in a pharmacy and watch people make life making decisions about their meds or eating and living. I hope that in the future you never have to rely on anything other than what you can earn. If youā€™re choosing a party solely because they have a better chance of winning, thatā€™s really sad.

Yea I see this but, if you look at the archived articleā€¦ thereā€™s nothing wrong except her just spending absurd amounts of money like anyone else would on their wedding day of given the chance. I feel she may have done this to avoid people nitpicking like this and continuing the narrative- sheā€™s just another rich lady with no interest in bettering the state- at least thatā€™s what Iā€™ve heard from SOME in this sub and online.

Or maybe she just didnā€™t like her wedding being put out there so publicly.

I donā€™t know just seems like an irrelevant point to me.

edit: if you look at the very first article it also has a tweet reply that says ā€œthis isnā€™t going to be very appealing to working class voters.ā€ That reply is from January 2022. I wonder when they edited this article.

It's also the height of hypocrisy for the party that has gone down on the business/1%er communities for decades to be slamming Magaziner for having money. But hypocrisy is one of the few things Republicans have to offer. Treason is another.

I donā€™t have a problem with people having money. Most people who have the time and resources to run for office probably will. Itā€™s just weird that her campaign calling him out for being rich when sheā€™s not exactly poor.

Why donā€™t you look into why she obviously has had her internet history stripped? Multiple search engines find next to NOTHING about her before early 2022. Especially nothing prior to 2020.

No high school or grade school photos. No statements from old friends about what a great gal she is. No comments from longtime employees or business partners about her talents. Digging in Newpapers.com it seems she and/or parents lived in scituate, cohasset, and ? Maybe san diego. Sheā€™s like a phantom.

I smell a grifter and a carpetbagger.

Also, I searched the FEC site for donations by either her or her husband to ANY candidates for federal office back to 2015ā€“ I found NOTHING except 2022 donations to Alan Fung.

She worked for Illinois governor Bruce Rauner. Why isnā€™t she highlighting that? Anything to do with the $1 million fine his campaign was hit with for illegal calls?

ā€œAshley Kalus, Coalitions Coordinator

Ashley Kalus most recently served as Coalitions Coordinator for Citizens for Rauner, Inc. Before joining Rauner, Ashley spent 5 years directing operations and strategy for a group of medical businesses, as well as leading an early stage medical device company. Prior to that, Ashley worked as a consultant at Accenture. She holds graduate degrees from the London School of Economics and Columbia University in public administration with a focus on economic and security policy.ā€
