Reply to Found in 1997 in a house I lived in on Keene St. on College Hill near Brown. Artist says George Gagnon ‘29 (which could be when he created it or graduated from Brown). Kept it safe for 25 years. Never could find any info on painter or painting. Any help r/Providence? by djoclear
One lead I found. There was a Joachim (who went by George) Gagnon (1874-1945) who lived in providence at that time.

I really appreciate your insight and I think you hit the nail on the head! I’ve fixed your link for those who are interested.

It somehow makes sense that Rhode Island would have its own weird little filigree.

Filigree is typically more symmetrical than this though. Does the book specifically say that this is filigree or say why it’s like this? I’ve never seen it done sort of piecemeal like this.

Usually seals are really tightly designed with each part having a meaning. These just look random.

. . . really? That seems odd. They look like a torn up fleur-de-lis and some sea cucumbers.

Because you left essentially the same comment twice.
“I’m 40. I have a historic mansion in Providence. I didn’t buy in a fancy neighborhood. I’m about 15 years into my software career. I taught myself everything I know about technology and didn’t study it in school.
I don’t have family money. I am maxing out my 401k. I’m also supporting my partner financially while she figures out her next steps. No hustle. No money from a FAANG windfall. I’m making well over 200k on my own.”
Vs
“I have a historic mansion in RI. Senior software engineer/security/operations person who is very good at their job. Didn’t buy in fancy neighborhood. No family money, and I don’t care for being entrepreneurial. I could make more likely, but I am lazy and have no hustle these days”
It’s common to downvote one of these comments.

Hey OP, can I give you some unsolicited parenting advice? When my first kid was the same age as yours is, my wife and I loved going to restaurants. We kept a shoebox of rarely-used toys that we would bring with us: play doh, board books, a big crayon or other interesting things. As we were sitting at the restaurant, every 5 minutes or so we’d give him a new thing from the box and remove the old one. It was a pretty easy way to keep him entertained and let us actually talk to each other.

SEPTA drivers get random drug tests. No way do they want to risk second hand weed causing them to pop positive.
Edit: not sure why I assumed they were smoking reefer. But I assumed.

This time would just get him in the top 10 of current high school students in the US. It’s a great time for an NFL athlete, but he’s nowhere near a world record.

Fascinating. The Acadians were kicked out of Canada. They settled in Louisiana. And now their food makes it back up to Canada.

I understand that you’re a layman. So am I. There were some broad generalities you’re missing though. Most bee species in the US don’t form large colonies and solitary bees are fairly common. You’d likely overlooked them thinking that they’re flies or other similar insects. They don’t sting, they don’t bite, they cause no problems. They are entirely different from honeybees that form large colonies and aren’t even native to the US.

The key to native animals is native environments. we need to be planting more native plants and leaving areas undisturbed for nature

Our population has only increased by ~8% since 1990. There was a 0.3% estimated decrease in population last year. The housing prices have gone up for a number of reasons but a rapidly growing population isn’t it.

Not this one. “Classes will be held at our new education space at 140 Marvin Road, Colchester, CT. We also offer private lessons for groups.”
It’s our local farm as long as “local” means in Connecticut 60 miles away.
