Maybe a new shop, restaurant, attraction or something else? What single thing would you bring to Stamford to make it just a tiny bit better?

@jackryantunes! I play live around Stamford all of the time, especially in Stamford. Third Place, Towne Parlor, Brick House, Beer Garden, etc.

A grocery store in downtown Stamford.
Stop and shop Ridgeway is pretty close
Stop and Shop or ShopRite aren’t too far
I mean like walking distance.

I’d love an actual high end butcher.
Ah great answer
[deleted]
I’m hoping Whole Foods will scratch some of that itch
Where is Whole Foods going to be?
High Ridge Road in Bull’s Head. It will share the former Lord & Taylor building with Saks Off Fifth.
Turning Point Provisions has some good stuff, not really a full butcher but very interesting meats!
Yeah you’ve got to go to Old Greenwich or Westport for that right now
Music venue. How does this not exist? It would be a goldmine. And there’s plenty of places it could work. I feel like that’s a major missing piece of stamford having an actual vibe.
Omg this! So tired of commuting to New Haven or Manhattan to see the bands I love.
An arcade bar like Barcade. Combination of UConn Stamford students, and 30 somethings to keep it afloat. Challenge is square footage, maybe somewhere in the harbor point warehouses would work.
There is RPM?
A higher end cocktail bar for late 20's to mid 30's crowd. Towne Parlor and Hudson Social just don't cut it.
Edit: cutting it in terms of night life I mean
I miss Cask.
Actual ice cream place. Chuck a mid Italian restaurant and put one in!
A Costco with gas ⛽️, preferably in North Stamford
Omg yes.
I’d add a restaurant between Bedford and harbor point. Needs to be open until 2am.
This way there’s always something to eat late at night.
Curly’s
Is Curt’s an good? I don’t think I’ve known one person to go there.
It’s a Stamford staple that Stamford natives don’t go to
I’ve never been!
See! I really don’t think anyone actually eats there lol
Yes lol it slaps
No it doesn’t stop lying. It’s what the police give to the prisoners waiting to see a judge Monday in the overnight cells on the weekends. Or at least used to be back in the old police station.
Shah's
I thought they were in Norwalk? Or do they have multiple locations.
There are two locations in Stamford, on Hope St. and Main St.
Just checked, there’s one on Connecticut ave.
Conn Ave.
Also Taj on summer street. It says they close at 10pm, that's a lie I've been there at 1am. It's super good
A lounge. Stamford is so fast paced and overworked. Just a place with drinks, games, comfy seats, and a relaxing atmosphere to hang out and decompress.
Stamford downtown was a lounge scene in the early ‘00’s and all the bars slowly changed to what they are now. Rightfully so as they have to keep up with the times and demographic.
I believe research park has a cigar lounge?
Absolutely agree
Cat café
On a purely personal level? A good retro game store. There’s a pretty good one in Norwalk but that’s enough a drive that I can’t really justify going there unless I’m going to purchase one. If there was one in town I could window shop to my heart’s content.
What’s the one in Norwalk that you go to?
Retro Games Plus, I highly recommend it!
A gay bar!
Good Asian cuisine. More pet stores. Music venue for concerts. An art district. Nordstrom Rack.
Good Vietnamese! Not just pho and bubble tea, but other traditional Vietnamese dishes. I have to go to Fairfield, Stratford or Bridgeport now.
THIS. I can get by on the western-oriented Thai places but there’s no authentic viet food. Ive gone to hart & Scarsdale for good viet.
And Mecha does not count that’s just to scratch a desperate pho itch but there’s tons more good Vietnamese food besides pho.
Top Golf or something similar
A NHL team.
Stamford Redhawks
AYCE hotpot.
Gym with power racks, deadlift platforms, and round plates
Try underground. Not quite a powerlifting gym but checks the boxes u wrote about.
On a side note the old keoughs building would have made an awesome powerlifting gym

A Board Game store
Zero waste bulk goods supplier for everything I would buy in a plastic bottle.
Yes please!
Check out Eco Evolution in South Norwalk!
Something for teenagers to do. Bring back something like the old Varsity Club. Somewhere for them to hang out. It’s all about the new restaurants and more apartments. What about the kids/teens?
A quick service salad shop downtown.
A Pilates studio

GOOD sushi. Stamford appears to have 'ok' sushi, but I've seen little here that compares with a number of kind of local (and not terribly expensive) places in Manhattan. Most of the sushi in Stamford feels like it's for people who don't know what great sushi is.
I agree on there being no good sushi places in Stamford, but fwiw Sushi Soba in Greenwich is pretty good and they deliver to downtown Stamford.
Truth. The best quality sushi I’ve found is from Kiku.
Better restaurants. Specifically by Columbus Park.
Roller rink
A dog park in north stamford
DiBella’s
A roller blading rink!
A beer and cheese shop.
Outdoor batting cages, late night deli and a mobile dog groomer that you do not have to book two months in advance.
Publix. Ya'all don't know about them chicken tenders.
A pot store. Heh

Panera Bread
There is actually one opening on high ridge road lol
Nuts, ya got me excited until I looked up where… 1008 High Ridge Rd. is pretty far from downtown Stamford… I never realized how big Stamford really is…
