Why does it matter?

What? How is this question hurting you in any way?

I understand trans rights and inclusivity, which I am making an assumption this is about, but someone asking this question doesn’t have anything to do with that. And if you are actually offended by this, this is why no one takes this shit seriously. I’m not saying you can’t be offended, but this is one of those times where some self awareness needs to come into play, and you need to understand that just because you were offended doesn’t mean someone meant to offend you; or that they need to change something they did. This is a perfectly acceptable question and it will be until we stop having doors in every establishment that say “MEN” or “WOMEN” on the door.

I was born and raised in Washington, and I've always referred to it as the bathroom. Only like 30% of the people in Seattle were born in the area, though, so you get a pretty big mix of different regional dialects.

Also born and raised, I sometimes hear men’s room, but usually it is from older people

Sometimes the men’s and women’s room are separate and in different locations.

If this is major in you're view, you are asking the wrong questions.

We always ask for the bathroom or restroom. During Canadian holidays / Canadian teams playing in Seattle, you'll hear Washroom but only Canadians say that.

My grandma (from Skagit County) said “washroom,” and I’ve even seen it on a few signs in WA.

“Bathroom” generally refers to the room in a private home.

In a building open to the public, it’s “restroom,” “men’s room,” “women’s room,” (or if people think they’re being funny, sometimes “little boys’/girls’ room”), or very occasionally “washroom,” though that’s generally more of a Canadian thing.

Yeah we also stand IN line, not ON line. I this this is just different regional word choice. I wouldn’t try to read to much into it.

Not sure where you are in WA, but the Kent Fred Meyer carries Taylor ham and so does DeLauenti at Pike Place

Which one? Looks like there are two, Pacific Highway and SE 240th St. (as I’m getting in the car to head directly to Kent!) Thanks!

My husband corrected me. It’s the one in auburn on auburn way north. It’s across from the deli counter in the little round rack they keep all the cheese on. It’s on the top shelf facing the deli counter. It’s the cloth wrapped Taylor ham version. They are like $13 but it’s cheaper than having them shipped in lol. Hope this helps! Let me know if you get some!

Thanks!! I’ll definitely stop by at some point this weekend and will let you know if I find it! I miss Tylor Ham! Are you a Scrapple family too by any chance? We’ve found Jones Scrapple at Thriftway in West Seattle.

The 240th St Fred Meyer is disgusting, atrocious, unkempt, and a hot disorganized mess.

The Des Moines one is a lot more modern, clean, and their grocery section is ginormous!

I randomly saw Taylor ham at the Fred Meyer in University Place a couple of months ago and couldn’t believe it. Relived my childhood summers at my grandparents’ for a few days…

It’s subtle, but saying “bathroom” feels a little bit crass anymore. I’m not sure why that is or when it started to become this way, but “restroom”, “men’s room”, or “ladies’ room” feel like more polite language to use in public with people you don’t know.

Language is weird that way, I guess.
