What’s up with people not cleaning the sheets of ice from top of their car and then speeding at 90 mph on I90. A big block of ice flew from somebody’s truck from the opposite traffic on to my windshield. It was size of a small table. I thought I’ll die. I still didn’t have courage to look at my windshield carefully for any cracks.
Most people care a little, some care a lot and some don't at all. Seems like you are behind someone who was careless.
Best thing to do is just give people lots of space to be stupid.
This is actually illegal in MA. If you catch the plates you can report it.
Ain’t called Massholes for nothin. Watched some dude blow a red light this morning, barely missing a crossing guard and about 4 school kids. Like wtf is wrong with you.

That's scary. I was on 495 this weekend and saw someone on the shoulder with a smashed windshield. I assume it was from the same thing but with worse consequences.
To answer your question, a lot of people are selfish, dumb or both.

I’d imagine you could report it to your local non emergency line.
I imagine I may get some hate for this, but from personal experience it isn’t always malicious.
Following this last storm, I cleaned my car off a day later. I warmed it up ahead of time, and still I had to use pretty significant force with an ice scraper to clear the windows (about an inch of ice). Nothing was loose on the roof, and I wasn’t willing to chip away at it for fear of damaging the paint. Never broke off while I was out doing errands, and is still frozen on the top of my vehicle today.
Next time I go out I’ll check again, but I have some grace on people that clearly attempt to clear their car off.
You're the problem. When you're driving around in your heated car it'll melt a little bit and wont be stuck to the roof. At which point it'll be loose and fly off, destroying someone else's windshield.
I don't differentiate between malicious and lazy. It's dangerous either way.
If you're going to be shitty and not clean off your roof, at the very very least try to break up the ice sheet so when it launches off on the highway, it launches off in smaller pieces and doesn't kill anyone.
That’s why I went out during the snow and rain and cleared off my car so all the snow wouldn’t turn to ice overnight..
A few years ago I lived in an apartment complex and we had a small snowstorm followed by rain/ice. I was the only one to go out first thing in the morning and clear snow from my car. 8 hours later everyone else came out and literally had to chisel inches of ice off of their cars. Many gave up. It was comical.
Pro tip: Do a quick stop to get the ice on your roof to come down in front of your windshield. It acts as armor and will protect you from flying ice.
The way the snow fell this particular storm made it *really* difficult to get snow off your car if you let it sit. This past week was also MA school vacation week so lots of people were out of town. Although not cleaning it off is illegal I'm sure lots of people said "eh good enough" this morning when they were met with a 40 minute project and just jumped on the road.

It's because they didn't clear off the original snow in time and it turned to ice during the next storm. Ultimately, tho its because they'd rather be lazy than be safe. I drove around my block for a better spot in between the storms and forgot my brush. Cleared the essentials and went like 500 feet at 15 mph before getting home and clearing the rest off. and i still felt like a dick the whole time
Not sure what's wrong with those people going on the highway with sheets of ice stuck to their roof
I pray that today, that sheet melts just enough so that when you hit your brakes, it comes down onto your windshield and blocks your view. Just then, you might learn not to be lazy.
