I know that driving without headlights or just with parking lights is a thing around here. But do people also drive with high beams in the city, or do they just have more powerful headlights that my lowly Japanese sedan?
Lots of jerk drivers use extra bright halogens, or drive with high beams, or with fog lights. They’re jerks. Doubly so if they’re doing so in an SUV or truck.
LED headlights vs crappy old ones. And I believe your car sits lower so more vehicle headlights are right in your line of sight compared to other vehicles where you sit higher relative to the road
Nothing quite like trying to merge into another lane but not being able to see out of my side mirror because some jackass has his high beams right behind me.
They use flamethrowers I swear. High beams at the Wendy's drive-through? What for? I had to pull my side mirror all the way in. This was an hour ago. I, too, drive a lowly Japanese sedan and I don't even know if it was a monster truck or SUV behind me, I was blinded.
There are super strong halogen bulbs and if you're in a smaller sedan a lot of cars are higher up than you so the angle is going to fuck you up.
Not tiny just low and 7 year old.
The amount of people who drive at night without headlights on is pretty crazy. I see at least 1 person like 50% of the time I drive at night now. I have given up flashing my high beams to alert them
Angle your sideview mirror so that their ahole lights shine right back at them. I don't recommend on highway, but other roads go right ahead. They will back off at least.
I miss the pre-snopes days when we didn't flash high beams at someone with lights off at night because they were probably in a gang and would kill people who did that. Pretty hard to have an urban legend anymore.

Love too be tailgated by trucks, when their halogens are so high up and bright that they cast a shadow in front my car at night. All because I'm only going 52 in a 45.
Due to height difference, SUV low beams sometimes look like high beam in a sedan. Also LED is prevalent now and some are just bright.
I see them literally every night when I’m walking the dog. And I can sort of understand it in the city with it being so bright.
But what blows my mind is when it’s the cops. Like guys, WTF?!
Step 1, lights on. Step 2, car in gear.

I’m sure it’s SUVs vs my sedan, but I do see people in the oncoming lane turn off and on their high beams as traffic approaches. So, people do use high beams in places that kind of dont need high beams.
But whatever, if it’s safer for them to drive that way, then so be it. But I’m going to drive much slower so I can be safer when someone is shining a maglite up my ass.

It’s both. SUVs/Pickup Trucks will blind you in a Civic. Also if you have one headlight blown you can put on your brights. it’s back to two that way.
I recommend getting your back windshield tinted to 30%. That’s the legal limit and it helps SSSSOOOOOOO much when night driving.
I drive a sedan, half the time I think someone has their high beams on, they’re just a new truck or suv whose low beams are mounted at the level of my roofline

My new car keeps getting lights flashed at it bc people think I have my high beams on. They’re not oddly bright but the angle seems to be higher than other cars. I feel bad!
Many people drive with just the Daytime Running Lights, not realizing that they are not automatic lights and that there are no lights on the back. Also, newer LED lights are very bright.
Then fix the angle. Headlights are adjustable.

I don't understand why people don't just always keep the lights on. Unless you're driving an older car that doesn't turn the lights off automatically, keep them on for Christ sake. There's no reason for them to ever be off. You're not going to run out of headlight juice.

People didn't let their kids go trick or treating 5 years ago because the entire country thought there were killer clowns running loose.
Old is fine, but complete garbage in certain weather conditions. So I would never elect the latter

My old boss bought his wife a gigantic assault SUV because she kept getting into accidents and he was afraid she would get hurt. I asked him if he was afraid of the people in the other cars and he said ‘not my problem’ so.

I just switched from an SUV to a sedan and I feel like im blind every time I drive out at night. It being wet and light reflecting everywhere probably doesn’t help either.
