Was that just a print or was it an Adolf Sehring original?

That's a fantastic idea, altering thrifted photos. It gives perspective on the classic 'everything is not always as it seems'. The original owner had no intention of conveying a darker tone or any idea that it could be interpreted as you have. thank you

Idea. Alter the fingers in disturbing ways when making hands stretch out like this.

No but I am an artist for my main living, and that’s how I make my money. I don’t sell the altered arts because I’ve only done a couple but I might, because a lot of people have asked.

I remember having one of those prints.

I like the addition ... but I think altering her eyes might've removed some of the dichotomy. Something slightly more interesting, imo, to see all that darkness foiled by a perfectly cherubic focus on the picture and elicits the mind to make up its own madness more than can be put to paper.

Love this! I’ve seen these done before, a lot of Kincade’s with Star Wars vehicles/ships added.

This is incredibly well done, I keep coming back to look at it and I keep finding more details that I missed before

I think the cold expression of the little girl on the first one would make it much better. Everything else you painted woulda fit nicely

In my childhood home that print hung in our hallway for a long as I can remember. Your altered work looks great!

Great use of an old, faded Home Interiors picture! Mom mom sold Home Interiors and every time she sees a Home Interiors item in the thrift store for more than $5 she rolls her eyes SO HARD.

KingCarnival t1_issmomr wrote

Yeah me too. Sorry this may be hurtful OP but I think your edit is tacky. Just being honest. I think it’s heavy handed and the original painting just has so much mystique and wonder. The modified version destroyed that.

The emotional contrast would be so much more striking if you hadn’t altered the girl, only the environment. Still very cool though — love what you did with the frame and the dripping and all. Have always loved the concept of altering thrifted prints.

It’s fine! I really didn’t mean for this to be a fine art piece, I meant for it to be over the top and tacky because I did this really, to make myself a seasonal Halloween decoration. It just came out so good I wanted to share it!
