Its an intersection of two one way streets and of course stop signs. I hope they stopped and thus could not have been going too fast when they hit you. Police should gather all available camera footage around that time and find the car. (You gave no info on car)
Its 2022, perhaps its time to stop running of red lights and stop signs.

Even if it wasn't her this time, the way she demonstrated that you can get away so easily probably encouraged a lot of trash out there. She needs to be held responsible to revert that horrible example.

What's the story with that bar on the corner? I've driven by a bunch of times and never stopped in.
PlentyEquivalent5619 t1_iwxgtrp wrote
It’s a bar. What type of story are you looking for?
mickyrow42 t1_iwxqf9f wrote
it's been here for like 30 years and it's on the more intimidating side of dive bars hanging around. someone got stabbed there in last few years and pretty sure shooting as well.
liquoranwhores t1_iwxsh3i wrote
Look at the other reply if you unsure of how to answer a question. That was useful information.
PlentyEquivalent5619 t1_iwxwxvx wrote
So your looking to form an opinion of a place you’ve never been based on hearsay and comments from people you’ve never met. Gotcha. Pop in and have a beer, no one is going to stab you. Funny you call a comment saying “pretty sure xyz happened” as useful information.
badquarter t1_iwxyfbl wrote
It's really not that bad.
mickyrow42 t1_iwy38qp wrote
Maybe not. Def does not have an appealing vibe that’s for sure. Live right around there and see pretty sketch characters more often than not.
mickyrow42 t1_iwy3fyk wrote
sure you prob won’t get stabbed if you pop in, but it also could not be a comfortable place for most people to casually hang out. Both can be true.
PlentyEquivalent5619 t1_iwygakt wrote
If you’re incapable of minding your own business while ordering a beer then you really need to reflect on how you present yourself in public.
moobycow t1_iwyr3kf wrote
I mean, it's a message board and basically half the posts are questions about where to eat and visit. Soliciting opinions on places doesn't seem out of line.
PlentyEquivalent5619 t1_iwyutoc wrote
Sometimes you have to YOLO it without vetting it through Reddit first. I’d expect someone with a name like Liquor and Wh0res to be a bit more adventurous when it comes to bars.

this happens to me all the time too. and god forbid i don't turn when there is a person in the crosswalk, next time i'll buy the snow plow attachment so i can just plow the people to the side??
flapjack212 t1_iwz4osa wrote
suggest you knock on some doors up that street, you know the time stamp pretty easy to look for the car as it approaches you too. that said maybe residential cameras will not be set up to look for license plates

So is it more or less sketch than the barge inn?

You must not be a big fan of reviews huh?

you’re so tuff and real. Thank you for setting me straight.

I'm in there all the time, they are the nicest people.

One thing I have noticed at that intersection is that when there are vehicles at both stop signs, the vehicle directly behind the one at the stop sign, usually on 6th Street, sometimes tries to jump through without letting the other vehicles on Coles through first.

And it's still "acceptable" to use plate covers in NJ....
These_Friendship920 t1_iwz9sts wrote
I got hit earlier this week on 7th and Coles. The car actually came to a full stop, so I thought it was safe to cross, but it turned out the driver was stopping to look down at his phone and not check if someone was in the middle of the crosswalk…Walking to and from the path has been the most stressful part of my day, and I found out how common this is on reddit. Is there something we can do as residents for this to be addressed?
PlentyEquivalent5619 t1_iwz9teh wrote
If I told you I never went to a restaurant, would you trust my opinion if their food?

I'm not sure I understand your comment nor do I think you understand how reviews work. Are you feeling okay today?

I've been in a few times. It's fine, but it's definitely got it's local crowd of mostly Spanish speaking people. It's not the nicest place but they have a pool table in the back and cheap drinks. It's been relatively empty every time I have gone but the patrons there never gave me pause of any sort- at least say compared to the characters that hang around the Barge Inn bar.
mickyrow42 t1_iwzmfp7 wrote
Well maybe cuz you’re a regular. Just sayin in 5+ years the vibe has never been something worth investigating to prove I’m a man of the dive bar people but hey I’m a scared little white person with pee stains on my tighty whities. We need these kind of places to stick around tho no problem with that.
LazyReplacement7379 t1_iwzpu36 wrote
Walking around this neighborhood is shockingly risky. I see multiple people blow stop signs every day. I've almost been hit and I've seen other almost get hit. It's nuts
LazyReplacement7379 t1_iwzq3q4 wrote
I recently saw on 6th street a car stop at a stop sign, wait until a couple was crossing, then quickly accelerate forward, hard brake, and lay on their horn lol
LazyReplacement7379 t1_iwzqgqo wrote
It's a cool little dive bar. They have their regulars, many of them Spanish speaking. The workers and patrons are all really nice. They're also a Mets bar so if you want to watch one of their games it'll always be on there

I walk down Erie every morning to the PATH and while 7th Street is the worst for crossing, every side street is it’s own adventure. It really is ridiculous.
After years of complaints about Erie and 7th the City made it an all stop intersection. This has made it worse for pedestrians as cars on 7th now expect the cars on Erie to stop and they just roll through. When there was no stop sign on Erie at least they had to stop to prevent getting T-boned.
I honestly have no idea what residents can do about this.
No_End_5268 t1_iwzxm0n wrote
You can’t compare the amy degise situation to this. The cyclist ran into her…
DontBeEvil1 t1_ix05e3a wrote
Not getting...they've been that way for quite some time. A while back, I literally had to jump backward to avoid being hot my a speeding car very close to there at about 1 am. And I was already in the crosswalk hallway across when he came speeding and turning the corner. Never so much as slowed down. Had I not jumped back fast enough I would have been laid out, and obviously that idiot would have kept on speeding away.
wasting_-my-_time t1_ix36g35 wrote
I've found Monmouth and Jersey to be a little safer for walking than Erie. Still, all these streets are an adventure that I wish the city would clean up.
oekel t1_ix3tc9m wrote
It’s a routine thing. It sucks.

Crossing the street is a wild adventure, especially the last couple of years as all traffic laws seem to have become optional.
I hope they are doing well.
