Efe's is great. Rumi as well. Both Turkish sit downs. Rumi has a nicer ambiance but Efes ambiance is fine. There are two Egyptian seafood hole in the walls Samakmak and Morgan. Both excellent but not like fancy at all. The rest of arabic food is like falafel or gyro joints. I think Hoboken has a good arabic place. But Ive never been.

Dunno if Turkish fits your bill as there are a lot of overlaps. I’ve always been happy with Rumi’s in Paulus Hook. It’s BYO as well.

The area around Crooks Avenue has oodles of Middle Eastern restaurants, cafes and shops. A bit closer, there are a bunch of Turkish places around Cliffside Park, Fairview and Edgewater.

Rumi’s has been around forever and it is fantastic. If you want to support the restaurant that’s been here since the beginning of downtown’s renaissance, that’s the way to go.

I like Rumi as someone else suggested. I have gone there a few times for lunch. It's near the Paulus Hook ferry so it's a great area to take a walk with a friend afterward, too.

There's a place near the Starbucks on 440 that I keep meaning to try. It's called Samia. Maybe someone else can chime in on that.
