Hi all! My fiancé and I are tying the knot this year, and we're on the hunt for an affordable reception venue near Canton, MA. As we're not from the area, we're hoping to tap into the local knowledge of the community to help us find the perfect spot.

We're open to suggestions for venues that can accommodate 100-150 guests, but smaller venues are also welcome. Since we're on a tight budget, we'd prefer a venue that allows us to bring in our own food or caterer to keep costs down.

We appreciate any recommendations you may have, including non-traditional venues that can be used for weddings. Additionally, if you have any suggestions for caterers or other vendors in the area, please let us know!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Ok, hear me out... Canton has an American Legion and it is exactly what you're looking for. It's not very new or updated but it does the trick. There is a full bar there and they will provide a bartender as well. You can bring your own food or catered from anywhere you like. It costs like $250 to rent for a day.

Funny thing is, it's located on the grounds of Canton High School. Congratulations

Edit: it might even be less to rent it and it holds that number of people easily. They are very laid back

Yup. If you are going to have a wedding of that size on a tight budget a Legion/Elks/K of C hall/lodge is a great way to go. It won't be fancy but the beer will be cold.

They are super friendly, there is a bar downstairs that is open daily. You can call or go in to check it all out

What a great recommendation. This checks their boxes extremely well.

Username does NOT check out, in this case!

To piggyback off of this: I got married at an American Legion in Plymouth. For $1800, we got a room overlooking a pond (we would have gotten married on the beach if it didn't rain), seats up 180, a full kitchen, two bartenders, and plenty of parking.

The next cheapest place we looked was a golf course at $7500.

The money we saved we put toward an extra photographer and great catering.

No one remembers the place. Everyone remembers the fun, food, and photos

No clue if these places do private parties, but there's the Trillium Canton location right off the highway - big parking lot, big outdoor area and indoors is pretty large too.

Also the Irish Cultural Center is pretty large and could easily hold that size party but again, no clue if they do private events like that.

Trillium is wildly expensive. I tried to do a birthday party for 25 people and they had something like a $3500 minimum plus taxes and gratuity.

Yea, we contacted them and they had a whopping $9500 food and beverage minimum to rent the space for just 3 hours (with an extra 500 for each hour more)💀(oh and 5% admin, 7% tax and 18% gratuity).

Thanks for the recommendations though, the ICC looks very promising!

Prowse Farm is Canton is absolutely the place you want to check out. Amazing location at the foot of Blue Hills, quaint little house onsite. Best spot for a wedding in Canton, affordable and as lo-fi as you want. Bring in any caterer you want, host a BBQ, you can whatever you want to do.

The Bradley estate, Trustees property, pretty gardens, not sure how pricey it is though.

I always suggest this option. If you, a friend or family member have a decent sized yard you can rent a giant tent for a day. A lot easier than dealing with venues.
