I wouldn't mind a Stuber sequel. Stuber Eats.

Dude wants to be a not-superhero actor so bad he'll just take wherever the studios will give him.
I give it 10 years max before someone's interviewing him and asks about Drax, and he flips out, saying he's been in hundreds of hours of more movies than Guardians, and that he's a real actor and should be asked about literally any other role.
Edit Ohhhh I see - this post was an astroturf ad, which explains why everyone's acting like Bautista and Faris are somehow huge enough to get upvotes for a sequel to a middling child comedy with a 43% Rotten on RT, which also barely made over half its cost at Box Office ($18M movie, $10M in theater sales). Maybe if more of the downvoters who hit my post had actually been paying customers to the movie, this would have more real excitement.

Dave Bautista was hilarious in a ton of things in the early 2000s?

Pretty sure no actor can support themselves entirely in the indie/art house realm. How has he not backed up what he said? He’s chosen to work with a ton of interesting directors and takes interesting roles, why does he exclusively have to do that to earn some made up credit?

My Spy was way more fun and wholesome than I anticipated. It isn't gonna change the game but it's a solid family comedy. I'm excited to see Bautista continue in the genre rather than get typecast.

Kinda surprising, since the release date of the original kept getting pushed back and pushed back until COVID hit and then it was lazily thrown on Amazon Prime.

The guy is great in most of his roles. Just watched him Knock On The Cabin, and he was great. He is a good dude and definitely much better than The Rock or half the other action stars (except John Cena).

90’s Parker Posey is imho the one perfect example of someone who was almost entirely an indie lead actor and able to exist as an almost exclusively indie actor for most of their career.
Even when she started really doing Hollywood studio stuff in the 2000’s she’s made most of her career since still doing smaller stuff.
Bautista didn’t so much say he wanted to only do indies, he was more talking about doing dramatic stuff and not getting typecast as just a big muscular action dude.
puttinonthefoil t1_ja4r7m4 wrote
What about him makes you think he’d act like an asshole about Drax?
Everything I’ve ever seen from him in interviews shows him to be grateful to have gotten such an opportunity as a very green actor, and a desire to become a better actor and work with other genres and directors.
I’m not paid, I just like Bautista, man. I think he makes fairly interesting choices vs. his contemporaries (ie, The Rock), and I think he has actual talent.
This movie was just fine, compared to his others (it reminded me of Arnold’s kids comedies). And people like Anna Faris, too! Why is this so hard to believe?

This movie was released in the States in June of 2020 to just over 100 theaters. Dig deep into that big brain of yours and think about why it may not have had much of a box office while being distributed during a global pandemic.

It's called "two for them, one for me" As in, two for the studios, one for yourself, an indie film. Have to pay the bills and keep your name in the minds of executives, not to mention keep your agents and managers paid by taking paid work. Do you think any of them would be motivated to work for a client that just says no to big paycheques? They don't get paid until he gets paid.

I think he meant it less like “I don’t want funny roles” and more like “I feel Drax is a character way too close to the standard wrestling character everyone wants me to play” and he probably wants more “heart” in his roles… Fan of the MCU or not, a superhero movie isn’t exactly what you think of when you think “serious”. And that’s not to say they can’t be, but I think an actor who basically ‘launched’(and yes I know it’s not what started or solidified his career but it is one of his biggest roles of it this far) with that character might not want to feel like “RDJ and Tony Stark” his whole career.

Right. I'm a big MCU fan, but Drax has no depth and is written like an imbecile. I think Barista just wants to do things that are different, and this is different while still being studio and probably getting him a nice check. Just look at Arnold: Kindergarten Cop is one of my absolute favorites of his.

This movie was good, will it win anything crazy..? No. But it did it’s job with a great little bit of entertainment, and I’m sure I’ll enjoy this movie, even if it’s not as good as the first. Mainly because I enjoy seeing Bautista on screen, even if it’s not his “ideal role” it doesn’t feel like he ever just “fucks off and phones it in” like say.. Edward Norton in Italian Job…
Edit. Kindergarten Cop is probably one of his best movies from that time frame. I love that movie and the wild ass crazy tonal shift the movie takes in just 15 minutes.

I've watched Mom when it's been on at my dad's house and I just don't get it. These women talk about how many terrible things they've done, something happens where they may slip, and then go back to rehab at the end of the episode.
Maybe it was just me, I just couldn't find humor in a show about drug addiction and going to rehab. To me it's too serious and real. Maybe other's could, and the jokes were relatable and stuff, but it just felt so weird for me and out of left field. Especially when Badger from Breaking Bad is also on the show for a bit. It's such a strange show. And it had oscar actors in it too
