The road. I watch the first few seconds and I knew it was a poor movie.

Immediately, I knew there was no care taken to make this film in the very least palatable. As the main character fills his bathtub, flames are seen outside the windows, while his wife does not even know what is happening.

In every case that you would imagine the world engulfed by fire, it would only be due to a nuclear holocaust. In this movie, people can peacefully awake from their sleep to a world engulfed in fire, and then, only then think of filling the tub with water for drinking purposes.

Have you considered that maybe the problem isn’t in the film, but in you not paying attention or having such poor comprehension skills that even the basic storytelling goes over your head?

There isn’t ever a concrete explanation given to what the big event is that ends the world. And also, the main character does see that something is happening hence running the bathS

The Man did that because he knew there was no where to go, so he did his best to provide resources for this wife and kid.

The book the film is based on doesn't give much detail on the calamity that has hit the world. Just that it's raining ash most of the time. Given the focus of the story we don't need to know that. (And many people find that more evocative and interesting)

Well, I don't want to come across as a dick, but it seems like if that's your main criticism, you might have missed the entire point of the film. I mean, they never even specify what exactly happened, because it didn't really matter for the story.
