Do it! I do it all the time. I always go see movies at like 12pm on a Monday and it's always just enjoyable
Seeing a horror movie by yourself is the best way to see a horror movie.
Better by yourself. Also DGAF what anyone thinks of you, they are all dealing with their own things.
i’ve went alone several times and never had an issue. i’m also a pretty anxious person with a limited circle of friends. if you want to see the movie, treat yourself and go see it. 🙂
Do it! But if you decide you don’t want to, it’s free on peacock if you have that platform
U know what You are probably right haha
That’s true I think I will :)
Thanks I will :)
I do this a lot, especially if i want to geek out without anyone interrupting me lol
MY wife and I have different taste in movies, so I often go by myself. I never feel like I am standing out or being judged.
Unfortunately I don’t I’m in Canada and don’t have access to that site :(
No one is going to care if you are there alone
It really is the best. You will get out of your head pretty quickly. It can be like a mind bath. Also the new Halloween is pretty bad. Go see Tàr instead
Oh my goodness, I've gone to the movies alone a thousand times. There have been a number of times when I was the only one in the theater! People go to the movies alone all the time.
I go to the movies by myself by far more than I go with other people — it’s honestly such a nice slice of alone time and literally no one will give a second thought to you being there solo.
I used to work twelve-hour night shifts so would often have to go see movies by myself, never considered it to be some kind of stigma.
I didn’t mind going to the theater alone.
I go to movies all the time by myself. No one cares.
Of all the times I've gone to the to the cinema (most of those being since August last year) most of them have been by myself and I've enjoyed myself.
Yeah I've usually gone to movies by myself, I hate people talking anyway. I used to go to restaurants by myself too all the time.
I go by myself all the time. I prefer it that way. Nobody to ask you questions about the film or talking to you during it. I go to get away from the craziness of my Monday through Friday work week. I’m going to watch Black Adam later this afternoon. Nothing wrong with going alone!
Some of my most memorable experiences at the cinema were when I went by myself. I remember just having the overall excitement of watching John Wick 3 or SpiderMan ITSV completely overtaking the initial anxiety of going in there alone.
In my experience, once you set your mind to wanting to enjoy the film you want to see, that should help the most. After all, you’re watching it for yourself, not the people in there. Enjoy the showing!!
I've done it! It's a great time!
Just think through the worst possible scenario. Maybe the ticket counter person has their own issues (I’m imagining like a Mean Girl Teenager?) and questions you condescendingly for buying just one ticket.
If that happened, which one of you do you think actually has something to be embarrassed about? You who just wants to see a movie, or that person who acts unkindly towards a stranger?
There is absolutely nothing wrong with or embarrassing about seeing a movie alone, know that in your heart and let it give you confidence.
I do it all the time. Seeing black Adam with my nephews but it’s still fun seeing a movie solo.
Oh holy hell, I go by myself almost as a rule. You take things at your own pace, you relax, its all good
I LOVE going to the theatre by myself. If I’m really lucky, the theatre is completely empty and I can enjoy the movie entirely by myself. It’s the most euphoric thing to me.
Movies are one of the best things to do alone. And nobody gives a shit about you and if you are with someone or alone. Get over that idea.
Awesome! Have fun and enjoy the movie :)
Used to all the time. Occasionally still do. No shame. Nothing weird. Just go enjoy a movie.
Lol yeah of course. All the time. Have done for years. I often prefer to go by myself.
Download fake location app. Set it to the states. Then download peacock. $4 a month.
Edit - or go to the movies. You know you'll be fine.
I’ve gone to the movies by myself. I mean, would you judge a person that was in the theatre by themselves? Maybe they got stood up or maybe they just wanted to spend some quality time alone. What you decide to do on your own is no one else’s business as long as you don’t hurt anyone.
I go all the time. Some movies you would just rather see by yourself anyway. The only time I felt weird was when I was the only male attendee and there was a single female attendee at a screening of Men
No one cares at all. I've gone multiple times by myself. You can also go to restaurants, stores or whatever else by yourself too! It's very nice.
Would this only work on a phone? I don’t have a laptop and only a tv. Lol.
No one will judge you. I love going to the theater by myself. It’s good me-time. It may feel slightly awkward the first time, but I promise no one is going to look at you sideways. Going to a movie on your own is a totally normal thing to do.
My anti-social work schedule means I have free time on weekdays so I go to movies alone all the time, it's great.
Don't worry about anyone judging you, honestly no-one is going to pay any attention that you are there alone, and even if they did it's none of their business so who cares.
Have fun.
My solo movie time is basically my only “me” time. Life is so busy.
This has to be the most common yet totally ridiculous worry for many people.
You are going to sit in a dark room and stare at a screen in total silence (bar laughing et al).
Why on earth would you need other people to do this?
Social stigma!?!?!?!?
Not anymore... it was stupid back in the day but nowadays no one gives a fuck.
I went to see this at the cinema - on my own, as I have been living abroad and hand't been to the cinema in over three years.
Just go - you'll enjoy it I'm sure!
That’s very true!! Thank u :)
I prefer to! Nobody will care.
I prefer to go to the cinema by myself. It's like my own private getaway for a few hours. I don't have to worry about friends talking or worrying if they're enjoying the movie or are bored, no arguments on what we want to see. It's peaceful to just sit in the dark of a cinema with only yourself for company, a few snacks, and to chill out!
Same! I love going alone. I do miss some conversation afterward but that’s what message boards can be for.
Go by yourself and have fun, just be safe 👍👍
Going alone makes me sad
Before the pandemic, I used to go the movies by myself all the time.
It’s so much easier because no one complains or distracts you.
I love going alone. I can sit where I want, don’t have to share my popcorn, and can leave as soon as the movie is over without having to wait for anyone.
Everyone saying this is fine/a good idea is correct. I do this a lot.
One thing to remember, though, is that you can't have that aftermovie "buzz" conversation, which is definitely something I miss compared to when I go with people. You won't have anyone to talk to about it!
"Remember when the guy came out wearing GREEN? That was crazy! GREEN?! He was part of the Red the whole time!"
Honestly, it's way better than going with other ppl
Going to the movies by self is pretty awesome!
Yeah it's great. Enjoy the film.
I have, for 3 times. Don't worry. Just go and enjoy the movie. People don't care about you 😉.
The movies are a place where you sit in the dark and it’s rude to talk so if anything I feel like it’s a better place to go alone than most! I also have severe social anxiety to the extent that I’ve passed out - but I see the movies as the easiest place to not be judged. Again, it’s in the dark and not a place to socialize. I used to have amc pass and I went to movies alone 3ish times a week. Go and have fun!
I do it all the time. I love it.
I started doing stuff solo in 2017, but it was only a few moments cause I didn't have the confidence and at the time all my friends were in different states. By 2019, I was going to the cinemas by myself constantly because I either had no one around or the people I did just didn't have an interest in seeing some of these movies.
That feeling of being judged still exists sometimes even now, but you keep challenging it and reminding yourself you're not the only one doing it, and it's actually become more common I'd say.
When your anxiety hits you, just remember that it's okay to feel that way, but you deserve to enjoy yourself. So I hope you end up going and enjoy yourself if you can!
Thanks. Hope you enjoy yours too! Don’t be afraid to go alone. It’s very peaceful and there’s nothing to worry about.
I love going after class or work during matinee times. Most people are there alone too then
In college I would go to the movies by myself quite often. It was especially nice if I had a gap in classes, I could catch the early showing of a movie at the matinee prices and beat the crowd.
Even now, if there’s a movie I want to see, and my wife doesn’t want to see it, I’ll just go by myself. Last one I went to see alone was Top Gun.
It’s about YOUR experience. You want to see the movie, go see the movie. I promise you, people aren’t looking at you or judging you as much as you think, if at all. If I saw someone at the movies by themselves, I wouldn’t think twice about it.
Going alone is kinda liberating actually.
Yeah I go every so often by myself. I enjoy it. No one cares I think. We always assume people are judging us but really how often are you judging others? You barely think of them right? Same in reverse for the most part. Also I worked at a cinema when I was younger. Lots of people go alone. It’s not a thing nobody does. What even happens that I found strange at first is people would come in alone and watch a kids movie cause it was the next one on. I remember the guy I worked with, as I had just started, go yeah that normal, some people just love going to the movies. Enjoy the popcorn 🍿 all to yourself 😉
I go by myself all the time. It’s honestly not a bad experience. You’ll be ok! Nobody will bother you if you go alone.
I go to the movies by myself all the time. It’s a personal date night. It’s really good to enjoy your own company.
Sure, just do it. Don't get in your head about it. It's actually fairly common.
The theater's are usually fairly empty anyway.
I went for the first time this past summer and it was so amazing. Nothing to coordinate, didn't have to share snacks, no whispering, no fidgeting, and didn't have to wait for someone to use the bathroom after. 10/10 would do again.
I always go by myself.
There will probably be people who think it's a bit weird, but who cares? If I really want to see a movie, but no one I know wants to, I'll just go by myself. It's not like you should be talking during the movie.
Every Friday after school I'd go see a movie or two by myself. It's a great experience.
Live your life. If you don't do things that make you happy, what's the point of living? So other people can tell you how to live it?
I go alone all the time and there’s no shame in it.
I go by myself all the time! It’s not a bad experience, but I think it’s soooo much more enjoyable when you can whisper something to your friend next to you during the movie and discuss it immediately afterwards. That said, no one will judge you for going alone. People do it all the time!
It's something you need to get over. There is a precious peace in being able to not worry about things like "need someone to go watch with me". I try and go to the movies at least once a month, sometimes 2 or 3 times. For many of them I go watch on my own. I love it.
I love going to the movies by myself. It's a lovely way to spend some alone time.
I see the vast majority of movies by myself. Nothing wrong with it, and I get to see more movies because I don't have to coordinate with others.
If you end up missing a movie in theaters because nobody was able to go with you, you will regret it.
If you're anxious about speaking to the guy at the counter you can always just purchase your ticket online, most theaters are on Fandango and have reserved seating anyway.
I've always thought this weird social expectation that you can't go to movies by yourself is stupid as shit. Going with friends is fun and I'll always do that if I can but at the end of the day, the entire point is that I want to see the movie. If someone is gonna judge me for that, fuck them because that makes no sense
I never go to theatres with anyone. It's the best.
Hopefully this helps you feel at ease; I used to be similar, growing up if I didn’t go to the movies with someone I didn’t see the movie, and I was missing out on a lot of films I really wanted to see, simply because my friends had no interest and it may have felt a bit awkward. Then The Lego Movie came out and I desperately wanted to see it, friends didn’t, so I finally went by myself and had an absolute blast.
To me, going to the movies alone is arguably better sometimes, it’s pretty much a solo activity if you think about it, you’re not really holding a conversation or doing much else, you’re quietly watching a movie. Once I looked at it that way in my head the anxiety faded and I enjoyed going to the theater a lot more, I’ve probably gone more by myself than with others over the past ten years tbh.
Just go and enjoy yourself! I promise the person thinking most about you going alone is you, and once you come to terms with that you’ll enjoy it a lot more as well. Good luck to you and enjoy the movies!
Just go and enjoy yourself, no one is judging you and if they are who cares, you're there to see a movie.
Do it all the time. After I got over the initial “fear” of going alone, it became my favorite “me time” thing.
I love going by myself. Booking a day off work to catch a matinee for a movie that’s been in theatres for a while means you get the theatre to yourself. I did that with the movie Us. I even went to VIP so I had the entire place to myself and could recline in my chair. It was the best
I've gone to see movies on my own multiple times. It's really relaxing especially if you manage to get an almost empty theatre. No one really looks at other moviegoers unless they're actively disturbing everyone so you should pay no mind to others :)
I think its just one of those things that seems t be a direct reflects in of ones own happiness and comfort with oneself, like going to Disneyland alone. It feels sad but should be fun. Like ideally id be here with a beautiful girl on my arm but I just don't have that right now but I still like movies. Type thing. I admire those who can do things like this and stay strong actually.
Going to a movie alone during an early showing with barely anyone in the theater is my preferred way to watch a movie. There's some exceptions of course if you're watching a movie meant to be enjoyed with a crowd, but I mostly try to find the least packed theater if I'm going by myself.

I promise you nobody cares you’re alone but you. You’ll have the occasional younger folks that will probably giggle amongst themselves about you, but who gives a fuck lmao.
Sure have and it was great! You quickly realize just how ok it is because frankly nobody should be “social” while watching the movie anyway. Just a bit before and when it’s over you just leave anyway. I often see at least one person sitting alone and I think to myself “good for you”. Just imagine later in life perhaps as a widow/widower, life doesn’t end and you can do a lot of stuff on your own including travel.
I always go by myself. The best is when the whole rest of the theater is empty.
Do it.
I do it all the time. I have two young kids and my wife doesn’t really like going to the movies, so it’s a good way to spend a weekday evening after the kids’ bedtime. Helps that I have a great art house theater a 5-minute walk from my house and an Alamo Drafthouse within a 15-minute drive.
I’ve been going alone for years and I love it
It makes me feel lonely 😔
I often go alone, because I prefer the original audio while most people I know don't want to deal with subtitles (and the lazy fckers never bothered to learn english).
I'll have to travel to another country for Dune 2, because they only put dubbed movies in IMAX here. Everyone says I'm stupid for that.
Don’t do it. The relationship police will be stationed at every entrance and when they see you’re buying a single ticket they will note and post it on social media for all to see.
What? That’s not a thing? Oh that’s ok then. I guess you can go by yourself and not gaf what others think. 😉
