You know, like real tears. I feel like watching some well-acted genuine sobbing. Those scenes are pretty hard to do and most of the time actors just frown their faces, or maybe cry one single tear (usually make up is involved too to make it seem like they're actually crying). Does anyone know of any movies with (lots of) real tears?

Five Easy Pieces

from IMDb: "There was some disagreement between Bob Rafelson and Jack Nicholson as to how to play the climactic scene in which Bobby talks to his father. Rafelson wanted Nicholson to break down in tears, Nicholson did not want to. They decided to just let the scene play out and see what happened, and Nicholson did indeed cry. Only one take of that scene was shot."

That movie's ending, wherein Bobby self-destructively abandons Rayette at the mountain pass way-station, is one of the bleakest, most heartbreaking movie climaxes of all time.

I fucking love Five Easy Pieces, I hate that it's only known for the diner scene.

It's sad that Jack Nicholson devolved into almost a parody of himself. Watch this movie, The Last Detail, Easy Rider, and you can see the hella range Nicholson had back in the day, just amazing performances.

There was this one movie where a guy kicked a hat or something and broke his foot, and I think he cried for real. I don't really remember though, very obscure trivia.

It was Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. The guy that played Aragorn (I think) thought the helmet was a prop and ended up breaking his toe

Yeah! I haven’t seen it in a while but yes, thank you for the name.

Jokes aside, Viggo fits OP's question. Captain Fantastic has a scene where he's inconsolable.

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner.

When Spencer Tracy gives a speech about love, Katherine Hepburn is in tears. He was very ill during filming and died shortly after filming. It is obvious that he is talking about Hepburn herself and not the character she plays.

Claire Danes has always been excellent with crying on screen. For a recent example, watch episode seven of the miniseries Fleishman is in Trouble.

I get a little chocked up at the end of First Blood and a particular scene in Rocky 3 when Stallone cries. Heck, even the new directors cut of Rocky 4 has a new scene where Sly let's loose (and it should've stayed in, imo).

You can tell Austin Butler is really crying in Elvis in the scene in the closet after Elvis' mother's death. The edges of Butler's ears are red - a detail no makeup artist would think of adding.

Claudine (1974) with Diahann Carroll and James Earl Jones. The story is about a blended black working class family who is struggling to make ends meet and it was one of the more realistic and understandable dramas I have seen in recent times.

There is a scene where Jane's Earl Jones is giving up and crying into his dinner and it's really hard to watch- really tears and sobbing. He was incredible.
