For the first time, in a long time my family can actually celebrate New Years Eve. (I used to work crazy hours) I've done a little research online, but what are your recommendations for a family's NYE celebration in NH? My daughter is 11, if that helps recommendations.

Stay home, watch the countdown on tv. We like to do a movie day where everyone writes down a movie(s) and put them in a hat. Then take turns drawing from the hat to see which movie we watch. Best family time is at home, comfortable and chilling.

I always enjoyed staying home, playing games with the TV on in the background, getting Chinese takeout (ORDER EARLY.) , and then my mom would make a cookie pizza for dinner. Also, adults can have drinks because no one needs to drive 😎

Portsmouth first night is great fun for the whole family. Lots of stuff going on. I always enjoyed the ice carvings. You could skate at strawberry banke, have fried dough at the place downtown to warm up, and watch the fire works!

I was thinking similarly but sadly I think rain will squash any outdoor plans.

Portsmouth will have Ice sculpture carving/setup at approx. 2pm.

Fireworks displays (South Mill Pond) at 7:30pm

My mom would make different appetizers throughout the night as we all stayed up. We always had the NYE celebration counting down in tv. If your daughter is 11, maybe everyone could play some sort of party game? (I’m not sure how big your family is.) it’s also fun to dress up the the party hats they sell at places like market basket. You could dress up in those and take pictures together. Since she’s too young for champagne, you could do sparkling cider and put it in a nice glass so it’s like champagne. Those are just things that I would have liked around that age. Also around that age, I thought dressing up in something sparkly for New Years was a huge deal. (Now at 27, I’m in my pajamas the whole time) but if she’s into fashion or something you could dress up for fun.

Those are all FANTASTIC ideas. We're a family of 3, and love game nights. (played games while we lost power last week) I love the idea of different snackies throughout the night. We can dress up for photos and go back to PJs after! Thanks so much for the advice!
