Hey man, for your sake, I hope you’ve learned your lesson and don’t get a citation. But please don’t do that again. Kids aren’t the safest and passing a stopped bus could really be dangerous for kids getting off the bus and running across the street.

Sounds like you’ve realized it and hopefully that’s the end of it. Good luck.

You might. I did it when I was a teenager and I didn't get one but that was like 15 years ago.

Depends on the driver and the situation. It's always a super bad look but if there were no kids out yet they might just be pissed off.

The guy held his horn for a few seconds and I’m assuming the bus has cameras I think they all do now

Best bet is to pray you dont get a ticket. If you get a citation and go to court, explain yourself and hope they go easy on you.

If you realized that you messed up while it all was happening, you probably couldve pulled over, ran back to the bus window, and apologized to the driver.
But that requires time travel to do now.

You might try contacting the bus company for that school district and apologizing to someone there, but if the driver didnt report you and you tell on yourself you might walk right into trouble.

Pray the driver didn't get aggravated enough to take your plate down, call it in, and swear out the affidavit, since you missed all of the signs of a stopping bus (flashing amber lights and the slowing of a gigantic bright yellow bus at least, never mind the flashing reds which may well have been active before the sign flipped out). Outside cameras may not be usable because of the bus company/municipality relationship and the ban on the use of cameras for traffic enforcement.

The state's site says "Under 20" drivers can get the 20 day suspension for underage bonehead awards and you're 20 so you should be okay there. You can still get hit with 6 points (SAF-C-200), a $750 fine (RSA 265:54), and a rather unpleasant note from your insurance company (how many years to get your safe driver bonus back?).

Since at least 1988, according to the notes in the SAF-C doc linked from DMV's site.

Someone went barreling around a school bus on the right into a crowd of kids when I was a kid. They must have been distracted and didn't notice the bus had stopped.
