How do they allow this to happen?

I mean they be releasing people that are arrested 10 times in a row in NYC. Releasing criminals happens all over America too. Then we're like "HoW CoUlD HaVe ThIs HaPpEnEd".

Hmm, not much detail in that article, it's still breaking news. Two dead and multiple injured.

in another article reported that the gunman is a retired train conductor who had prior police arrest record, for attacking migrants but later subsequently released.(source: the guardian)

Police "unsure" if the violence is racially motivated.

How many times does a lunatic have to harm and kill a specific community before we can just assume the obvious?

Now they are saying three are dead. The shooter had prior charges for attempted murder in 2016 and 2021. He was known to police. Yeah he was known. He should have been in jail.

Not even the oldest mass shooter this week. It was a 73 year old who committed the mass shooting in Canada on Monday.

What the fuck did he do that for

From what I understand, he thought poisons were being pumped through his HVAC vents in his condo, and they HOA board wasn’t fixing it (or maybe he though they were doing it?) so he went and shot up an HOA meeting.

The older I get, the more valuable life becomes to me. There is so little of it. Why would I want to take it away from someone else for bullshit?

>Sheesh. America needs to chill with all the gun violence.

It literally says Paris in the title, and if you read the article.

B-but but, how can this be? France cracked down on gun-control. We know this, because they rubbed it in the US' face 24/7. HOW CAN THERE STILL BE GUN VIOLENCE?

Well in this case two people being shot made news around the world.

If it happened in the US it wouldn’t even be significant enough to make the local news.

That’s the difference.

100%. Am American and literally thought how this wouldn’t be news in my city. God I hate it here.

Two people being shot in the US makes the news on Reddit any time it happens.

So please don’t be a hypocrite and pretend like it doesn’t.

There was just a shooting at the Mall of America. 1 dead, 1 grazed. You know how I know? Because it’s all over Reddit, with much gnashing of teeth and bemoaning of America and how bad we are, etc.

But when it happens in Paris, out come the excuses.

Homicides per 100 000 people in 2020:

US: 6.52

France: 1.30

Literally five times higher.

It’s your civic duty to embarrass 2nd amendment losers by showing them how mass gun violence doesn’t happen in a 1st world country. The US’s homicide stats are so much higher it’s not even funny. But I’m sure the next school shooting will do nothing to make you see that.
