the industrial-type feel of the area has a lot to do with that. And the new constructions still underway, which always makes an area sketchy with the scaffolding, plastic barriers, blocked sidewalks, wood walls. etc.

Near the LIRR station and north of it is hardly the worst. I wouldn’t say “real bad” unless you are taking South Jamaica, which is quite far removed from what this thread was talking about.

So I'm dumb and have read around and I saw an article state that in 3 weeks there would likely be full access. I currently take the port Washington line to Penn and commute to grand Central.

When full service is available, would I be able to simply hop on the port Washington line directly to grand Central? Everything I've read seems to indicate that but I'm still not 100% certain. Thanks

It gives Long Islanders a direct line to Grand Central. Previously if they needed access to grand central they’d have to get off at Penn Station and spend another 20 minutes commuting on the subway.

The LIRR has like 105 million riders a year. LOTS of Long Islanders work in the city, and not all of them are Trumpers who think they're gonna get shot the second they get off the train.
