We didn’t just have ‘’open borders’’ in the 1700s. In fact, we didn’t have open borders at all in the 1700s if you take into account that only a certain group were allowed in. And you’re making the argument under the assumption that those individuals wouldn’t pay taxes. Wouldn’t it be better to have those undocumented paying taxes versus not paying them? Like you do understand that being a law abiding resident/citizen would mean they would be paying taxes and contributing to society correct? And there is no guarantee to be taken care of financially like I’m sorry but when did I ever say that we should guarantee that those we allow to become naturalized would have financial support?
